I have been coming to Wolf’s for 20 years; even after I moved from the area, I commuted in at least 4 times per year. Are the cakes good – yes. Are they “that good” – no. Jewel, Whole Foods, Sam’s Club – all offer far more convenient and equally fresh / delicious options – but I believe in small business! I believe in spending my money in places that hire the locals and bring opportunity into communities and while Wolf’s doesn’t know that about me personally – they should think that about most if not all of their customers, because the competition is accessible to us all.

Having said all that, thank you Wolf’s for 20 years but this weekend I bought my last cake and made my last trip.

I called Wolf’s to order a cake, which I explained was for my son who was having a small wedding with the JP. I asked if I could buy a smash cake, or big ol cupcake to go with so I could freeze it (a wedding tradition is to freeze the small top cake for the 1 yr. anniversary). I said I was willing to pay. The purchase needed manager approval and ultimately the manager said, “No we don’t have enough time.” Odd. I can place a cake order for a 2 layer, fresh filling and whip cream 8 in round for pick up in less than 24 hours but I can’t get some version of a smash cake or small cake, even at my expense, because there isn’t time????? NO. I don’t believe you. Let’s call it what it is – low effort! and shabby customer service! Either the cakes are pre-made and you can handle the turn around because you are selling me a pre-made cake or you just couldn’t put in the effort to help a paying customer out. So why go out of my way?
Customers are putting in effort with small business – in this case it is not because of their “exceptional” product – it is for other reasons, likely all personal to the customer. Wolfs will do well to remember that in the future.

t pains me to write this, as bakeries are some of my favorite places, but longevity alone does not equate to quality. I visited this long-standing bakery for the first time in December and won’t be returning. I sampled four different pastries and found none of them memorable. The French cruller—the only donut I enjoy—was dry and heavy, lacking the light, airy texture it should have. The cannoli had a soggy shell with no crunch. The much-praised lemon fluff cupcake tasted like someone forgot to add the rest of the dough; it was unremarkable. Finally, the cheese strudel, ordered for someone else, also failed to impress. I appreciate that everyone has a different flavor palate but the quality was poor. Perhaps time has dulled the attention to detail, but across the board, this bakery fell short.

The manager of this bakery is very rude and disrespectful to their customers !
I came in to buy a birthday cake willing to pay whatever the price was and asked for them write “Happy Birthday” on the cake. They refused to write anything on a 7 inch cake but how it was communicated with ultimately the manager yelling at me, was absolutely unacceptable. Never coming back to this location and do not recommend if you are looking for a good and respectful service. Bakery itself is not too bad; but plenty of other places with better services.

The sweets are solid, I wanted to cannoli shell to be a lil bit more crunchy, the mini treats and soo perfect bc of their size, but a bit pricey.. I believe it was $2.50 per mini. My order came to like $25 for 2 small boxes of lil bit a treats .

WOW!!

I’ve been dying to go but never make it before/after work. But I’m on summer break so when I was out running errands I knew I had to stop.

Walked in and overwhelmed with great options! To your right you have an assortment of small cookies! You make your way to grab a number because believe me it gets busy. As I was waiting for my number to be called I started chatting with a gentleman about what he lives here…guess his answer? EVERYTHING!! But most of all the Lemon Fluff Cake! So I tested their Lemon Fluff Cupcake, a glazed pretzel (which is a regular glazed donut), and their Lemon Bar.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS…there goes pretzel is one of the best I’ve had in this area. Soft and sweet! The lemon bar was a nice cake with layers of lemon marmalade in the middle, DELICIOUS! But the Lemon Fluff Cake, I’ve never had anything like it! The cake was moist, the fluff was so soft and tasty! Another lady in there told me I’ll be back tomorrow after I try my items…DAMN IT sure was right!! I already have ideas for my next visit!

A man there order a pineapple fluff cake and says when he comes to visit from Louisiana, he stops to bring it back with him!

Don’t wait on this place! I wish I started going when I moved to this area 6 months ago.

I stopped into Wolf’s Bakery just 5 minutes before closing, and Amy was so welcoming and kind. She didn’t rush me at all, even though it was the end of the day, and helped me pick out some desserts. Everything was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious! You can tell they really care about quality here. Huge thank you to Amy for making the experience so pleasant…I’ll definitely be back!!! Thank you Amy

Best bakery around. Definitely no wonder why they’ve been in business since the 1930’s. Love the atmosphere. Donuts are always fresh, cannoli is the best I’ve ever had. Great service. #1

One of the best bakeries there has ever been. There’s nothing here that isn’t the best pastry you’ll ever have. So thankful EP has this place 🙂

Recently, purchased for the first time a slice of banana cake. The cake tasted like you only put banana flavor, so needless to say I was disappointed not tasting the flavor of real banana. Feel you misrepresented the cake.

The best bakery around!!! We keep coming back for more. Placed an order for Paczki’s and picked them up today. Words cannot describe how good they are. One of the lady’s that works there named Rosemary is the sweetest. Highly recommend Wolf’s Bakery in Evergreen Park.
