At our Beckley, WV location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Captain D’s rips us off, they always add the corn al a carte instead of upgrade. Per the sign on the counter $0.99 to upgrade your side to a premium side, $3.89 to add the side a la carte so we should get 3 sides they never give you 3 sides even though they charge us for them. It’s sad they steal $2.90 from us, but if they do that to 100 people today, then they get $290.

Went there today with my family. Four of us. First there was no air conditioning in the lobby and hardly any in the dining room.. It was 94 today. Second our orders came as follows, husband, daughter, son, 20 minutes. Mine? 45 minutes!!! A large family came in and got their order BEFORE I got mine! We had to ask THREE TIMES for my order. I’m diabetic and I sat watching my family eat while I got weaker and a headache. I finally gave up and got in the car with the air conditioning running while my husband was still inside trying to get my order. There is NO excuse for this. How about get some air conditioning in the building so the two employees aren’t in a kitchen that I’m sure was around 100 degrees. And while you’re at it, DRUG TESTS would be amazing! Check out the photo of my side of okra. Could it possibly be smaller or soggier? Completely inedible. We spent 66.00 and change for an absolutely MISERABLE dinner out. Thank you so much Captain D’s!

Even during lunch hours, I have found a restaurant that is relaxing. During my short trip to West Virginia, I tried food from this restaurant during my first day lunch. After my positive lunch experience on my first day, I decided to go to this restaurant for lunch on my second day.

I honestly have no idea how this restaurant even has a 4.1 rating. Maybe I’ve just had a rare case where TWICE where the experience was bad. I don’t enjoy being negative & smearing a reputation but I’m thinking of the unlucky next person that might think to eat here. Both times I’ve ate at this location, the fish has been poorly seasoned, fries were soaked & everything tasted like it was a day old soaked in grease. Now that’s just the food half, as for the service it’s been sub-par, definitely not happy or friendly BUT that’s expected when employees are unpaid & ran through the ringer everyday. So I’ll excuse that anyway of the week but the fooooooodd. I’ve never could finish my meal both times I’ve ate here. Nothing like spend $15 dollars for a meal & you can only stomach $7.50. Also need to mention these were very spaced out occasions so it’s not like it was a bad week or month. It’s been more like a bad year & bad establishment.

Never eat here. I will never go back. The cashier was working the window and the front,which was fine-Except I waited 20 minutes for my food. I think she give it to someone in the drive thru. Even the cook said do you have a receipt? I said no she didn’t give it to me. I got the food (omg) nightmare. They hadn’t changed their cooking oil in 10 years!! The fish and chicken were dark brown,greasy and very small. A man even asked me- do you want me to go tell them? I said no, I’ll eat my beans, corn and I’m never coming back

The receipt shows that I ordered my food to eat inside the restaurant at 12:26. I received my food at 12:50. That’s 24 minutes. When the server put my tray on the table I asked her if anyone at the drive thru had waited that long for their food. A manager came over (Amelia) and explained that a cook had failed to drop some chicken and that’s why my order was so delayed. In fact she went out of her way to apologize and even brought me a fresh meal on my way out the door. I went from leaving a negative review to leaving a positive review. Everyone makes mistakes. Own it, apologize and move forward. Now, I feel I need to put these restaurants on notice. They prioritize the drive thru and the dine in traffic suffers. Stop doing this, please. My dollar spends elsewhere as well.
