The food here is amazing! We loved the beef sandwiches and they truly are spicy! The service was very good, but felt a smidgen rushed. I loved all the memorabilia on the walls and the feel and atmosphere of Portillo’s. Overall I’d give it a 4.8 of 5! Was a wonderful experience and I will be coming back.

Our favorites are the Italian beef sandwich.. dry with dipping gravy or pre-diped or soaked,
Sweet pepper or hot and mozzarella cheese if you like.
They also have hot dogs, polish dogs, and great French fries, we like ours with cheese, somthing for everybody in the group,
Salad, burgers and great deserts.
Great atmosphere with lots of antique’s and old cars to look at while you sit and enjoy your meal.
Always plenty of parking and seating.

While in South Bend, we wanted to have one of favorite foods…a Chicago Dog. The inside was like a nostalgic restaurant. The person who took our order at counter was dry and didn’t create a warm & friendly atmosphere. We ordered the two Chicago hot dog combo that included fries. Reasonably priced. The dogs were good. Not the best I’ve had but satisfied the craving.

Oh my goodness! We loved Portillo’s! The restaurant was recommended to us by friends who live in the area, so we had to give it a try when visiting Notre Dame. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was fantastic. We enjoyed having the Chicago dog, fries, onion rings…we saved the chocolate cake until later…WORTH IT! It was so very good.

First time customer! Travelling from out of state. Dined in. Loved the Chicago motif and the pics on the walls. Great setup for ordering and retrieving food. Got the double cheese burger and fries. Wife got the Chicago dog and fries. Burger tasted great! Really liked the fries. Wife liked the Chicago dog. Staff was really busy, but we didn’t feel welcomed or listened to. Felt rushed while ordering, considering this was our first time. We each ordered the combo with fries and drink, but we were shorted a fry. Turned out it wasn’t even charged to us, even though we both ordered combos. Again, didn’t feel welcome when we attempted to rectify the mistake at the pickup area. Staff pointed at the receipt on the bag and said, you didn’t order it. Nothing more. I asked if I needed to go stand in line again for fries? Staff hesitated and then gave us the missing fry, which was appreciated, but unnecessary if we’d have been listened to when we ordered. Also went to order shakes to go for the road. All shakes were listed as sold out. Shakes appeared to be one of the main menu items and seemed popular. It was confusing as to how the restaurant was sold out of shakes at lunchtime on a busy Sunday. Will definitely be back if we’re traveling through the area again. There are none of these restaurants near our home. Would love to try the roast beef and the hotdogs, as well as the shakes.

Great food! We got 2 Bacon Double Cheese Burger and 2 Jumbo Chili Cheese Dog. Can do atmosphere, went through the drive thru. Food was great. Person took our order outside at the order area. Prices were good. You have to give them a try.

Fantastic food! It was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! The cheese for the fried is phenomenal! It is very inviting. I love the decor extremely clean! Stopped in from out of town at the recommendation of a prev Portillo’s Customer and I wasn’t disappointed!
Walking in the smell was amazing. The menu wasn’t overly complicated yet plenty of options or combos to choose from. The inside was a bit rough around the edges but overall a great experience. I definitely would eat here again and totally recommend to anyone in the area to check them out.

Food is great. I was a little surprised how long it took to get our food with the assembly line, but they don’t sacrifice quality, so I didn’t mind! This is a fun atmosphere and they actually serve beer, too. I really appreciate any restaurant that has windows into the kitchen. The staff seemed well trained and knew exactly how to prepare each order. I don’t live near here, so it was a treat for me and my wife to enjoy a meal here together.
