I saved this restaurant for the second to last day of my trip to the Smokies.
I arrived at 11am after rushing to get there for breakfast hours.
While I was anticipating having to just settle for lunch, the hostess actually gave me an option for a breakfast or lunch menu in which I obviously chose breakfast.
This was such a relief and got them their first star.
I was seated, reviewed the menu, couldn’t decide, so I ordered an omelette and chocolate chip pancakes.
The food was incredible, portions too large to eat it all, but not from the lack of wanting too…
The service was also too notch with drinks staying filled, yes, sweet tea and chocolate milk, and the waitress was very intentional to ensure I had a great visit.
I’ll close this review out by saying, once I finally made it to my car around 12:30pm, my next stop was Tanger to shop…
However, I didn’t get there until 2pm because I was so full I decided to take a nap in my car after all the incredible food and great experience I just had at the Applewood Restaurant.
Definitely make this a stop during your visit.

Super cute little Southern place. You get apple fritters with your meal, and they are delicious! You also get apple julep samples (I think is what they’re called) – a mix of apple and orange juice. I got blackened catfish, and it was pretty awesome. I’m a Northerner, so I don’t know how authentic Southern it was, but it seemed nice and authentic to me.

We arrived here for dinner a little late at night but everyone was warm and inviting. The food was amazing from start to finish. We loved every bit of it. I got the trio meal which included chicken pot pie, chicken and dumplings and fried chicken. It was the best chicken and dumplings I have ever had!! Before the meal comes, you get complimentary Juleps and fresh apple fritters with apple butter. You also get a choice of soup. We got broccoli and cheddar soup which was delicious. We got the Mac n cheese, green beans and mashed potatoes. Everything tasted so fresh. We were mesmerized. We had no room for dessert and was so pleased when they let us take it to go. Would definitely recommend and return!

We approached the property and noticed the huge parking lot, which was already packed. Also, people were crowding around the entrance, which let us know there was probably a wait. We entered, I gave the hostess my phone number and was informed it would be about a 20 minute wait. People were waiting around a firepit and we sat in a couple of the chairs along the wraparound porch.. Unknown to me, Wifey had already joined the waitlist while we were driving over. Because of that, her name was called before our 20 min wait was up. We were quickly seated at a small perfect table for two in the dining room. Our server came by right away with complimentary warm fritters served with apple butter and orange juice. We quickly reviewed the pretty extensive menu. We both ordered coffee and for food; Wifey chose the Southwestern omelette, and I went with the Cheesy Egg & Ham skillet. We were enjoying our fritters and observing the family atmosphere with a bunch of little kids walking around. While waiting, I noticed the table next to us, who had ordered after we did, received their meals first. Our food came out soon after. Wifey took a bite of her omelette and mentioned it lacked seasoning and wasn’t super hot. I wondered if some of the plates might have been sitting out on a counter somewhere since the other table got their food first. My skillet also seemed underseasoned at first, but once I dug in and got a good mix of potatoes and onions, the flavors balanced out. The restaurant itself is huge and I noticed we were in the smallest of 2 interior dining rooms. Overall, we enjoyed our 1st visit to Applewood Farmhouse and it was decorated nicely for the holiday season.

Me and my boyfriend went for the first time today after a trip to the titanic museum! Let me tell you, it was soo good! The best food I think I’ve ever had that involves a good ol’ home cooked meal that feels like home, I got the fried chicken w/ Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy!
My boyfriend got the chicken trio sampler! It was amazing as well! When we had time again we’ll end up going back up there to eat again! Melinda our server was awesome, and very nice while serving our food to us!❤️

My fiancé and his family took me here to this famous Southern restaurant, and it was one of the best Southern family meals I’ve ever had. I’d recommend getting a reservation as it gets quite busy!
The interior is a large old farmhouse with different wooden tables and chairs. Ours chairs were the swinging kind! Our waitress was lovely and greeted us with a complimentary basket of their famously delicious Apple Fritters with Apple Butter. We were also given a complimentary cup of their signature Apple Mint Julep.
I got the Country Fried Steak with White Gravy as my entrée, and chose Grandma’s Broccoli Cheddar Soup. We got the Mashed Potatoes and Mac ‘N’ Cheese as our refillable mains for the table. Everything came out hot, fresh, and prompt. It was all SCRUMPTIOUS! The soup was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. You can’t leave here hungry, that’s for sure!
The food was filling, delicious and good for the soul. I absolutely loved this place and would love to return someday!

We initially came here because it offered a dog friendly patio we just thought it was a restaurant BUT it was so much more. It is basically a whole little world of it’s own. Our server John was phenomenal my daughter wanted to personally tip him and thank him she is 14 and doesn’t say ANYTHING else but bruh so this spoke volumes of how wonderful he tended to us. The food was amazing absolutely AMAZING the fried chicken was delicious the apple fritter so freaking delicious the broccoli cheese soup is a must, I wish I had taken pictures but we devoured the food. The bottom less sides were so good we got the mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and stuffing. I don’t know what magic they put in those potatoes but I couldn’t stop eating them I highly recommend them and the mac and cheese was so good. We were all just talen back and howuch food and how delicious it all tasted you would have thought it was our first meal ever. If you are in the area visiting this place is worth a stop I highly recommend this place.

Super packed so get there early . We had a 50min wait with 23 parties ahead of us for a table of 2.
Our waiter did the bare minimum, not that we needed a whole bunch but there was just no effort given.
My country fried steak was slightly overcooked. Not to the point it was burnt but you could just tell if they cooked it a min or 2 less it’d have been perfect. It was the least satisfying CFS that I’ve ever eaten.
The biscuits & gravy however we’re some of the best! We also enjoyed their complimentary apple pineapple juice and beignets.
Overall not worth all the hype that was given ,but you get a hefty portion for your $.

Well my wife and I tried this place because it was recommended to us. We are from Las Vegas and we did like the service and the area for sure. The food was good, but not as good as we thought it would be. Maybe it was our choices, or the combination of choices. You get 3 side dish PER TABLE not per PERSON. At least that’s what they said. Kinda strange option. Because I would probably next time sit alone order for myself, then order my sides including okra, and then go hey friend can I join you, oh look it looks like you have ordered your sides already, hey let’s share… My friend shouldn’t be forced to eat sides he don’t like or vis-ver-sa. I should be able to order my own. Now I had the pork chops, and they were a bit too salty. But otherwise they are ok. Wife has the grilled catfish, and she too said it was ok. It’s a lot of food because of the carbohydrates that come along with the side dishes, and then the desert that comes with it. Of course I wasn’t able to eat it at the end. I had them put it to go and it was smashed put together so that was a bit unprofessional. If you eat a lot of food then yes this is the place. But if you don’t and you plan to share then don’t go here cuz they don’t even like people sharing. Would I come here again probably not, But again that’s just me. Overall I give it an okay spot..
