I was nearby and noticed there were only five people in line, so I decided to queue up. From waiting to ordering, eating, and paying, the whole experience took about one hour.

I keep seeing people leave bad reviews about the food just because they waited too long. That makes no sense to me. I’m only judging what was actually on my plate.

What I had was an insanely crispy omelette — perfectly crunchy on the outside, juicy inside, and generously packed with crab meat. Anyone who says this doesn’t taste good simply has no understanding of food. You cannot mix the hype or the waiting time into the evaluation of the dish itself. You should judge only what ends up on the plate — and that was a solid 10/10.

Yes, the price is crazy. Everyone knows it’s overpriced. But Jay Fai is a brand now — and she actually stands at the wok herself, unlike many Michelin restaurants where the chef barely shows up and maybe greets guests once a week.

Is it ridiculously expensive, especially in a city where you can eat well for three euros? Absolutely.
Was it the most delicious crab omelette I’ve ever had? Also absolutely yes.

I arrived aroud 11am and the queue was shown on the picture. Good thing, the daughter was listing our pre order menu. If you queue long, get some fresh and pulpy orange juice from the resto next to it, so good!!

This one is also Michelin star, the chef is a 81-year-old Grand Ma cooking with big google. My friend said 2025 was the year she intended to retire, thus I think this time for me to eat there.
I admire the Grand Ma Chef doing her works of non-stop cooking, she has like endless energy, due to health concern, we are not allowed to take pics with her.

For crab omelette it’s no joke of abundant crab inside and no joke that its quite expensive, but I think the price is blended with the taste of the crab + the energy from Grand Ma Chef

Jay Fai’s crab omelette is legendary—a mountain of crab, worth the 45-min wait. But more than the meal, it’s the passion you taste. That fire needs to be passed to the next generation. A legacy this great can’t stand on one pair of shoulders alone. The cooking skill and passion need to pass on to next generation and not just management and remain in the ordering. The taste has passed away and become too salty and oily.

Jay Fai’s crab omelette is a real must-try! For 1,500 baht, we thnk it is well worth it. It’s 95% filled with plump and juicy crab meat. (We actually tried crab omelette in another restaurant for 1,200 baht and it was practically just omelette with very few pieces of crab meat). We loved Jay Fai’s crab omelette so much that we ordered a second one.

Go after lunch to avoid the long queue. We went at around 2:30pm on a Thursday and got a table right away.

We also didn’t experience any of the negative reviews we read about in Google. The staff, including Jay Fai’s daughter, were efficient and polite. The place was also clean, especially the toilet.

It’s understandable that they don’t allow any photos with Jay Fai. Because if each and every customer will ask for a photo, then she will not be able to cook anymore.

Overall, we highly recommend visiting Jay Fai.❤️

Raan Jay Fai is one of those places where the hype actually feels deserved. The setting is simple and a bit chaotic, but that only makes the experience more authentic and fun.
The crab meat omelet is huge, generously packed with sweet crab, and fried to a light, crisp golden shell. Yes, 1,500 baht is a lot for street food, but the quality of the ingredients and the sheer amount of crab really do stand out.

The chef herself, in her trademark mask and goggles, is genuinely iconic and gives the place a unique character.
Just remember: it’s cash only, so come prepared and hungry!

Arrive before they open = write name down on a pad. After = line up behind a white table they put out to the left of the restaurant.

We went on a weekday before they opened. At 9:00am there were about 15 names on the pad. Only the 1st 10 gets in on the first round.

She cooks everything herself and it took more than an hour before table #10 got their food.

When we left around 10:05 AM there were about 8 groups in the line outside, just for your reference.

The crab omelette was amazing — really flavorful just on its own without the sauces. It’s packed with super fresh crab meat and I even tasted some sort of crab essence juice inside.

Really don’t recommend the Tom Yum Soup as it was very very salty.

As for the Drunken Noodle, I’d say you can safely skip that too. It’s good but also on the salty side and in general not worth 600.

Timing
We arrived at 4:45 PM and got in line.
We were seated at around 6:15 PM, and the food was served at 6:55 PM.

Food
This is not just an omelet — most of the dish is actually crab meat, and the same goes for the other dishes, which are largely made from the main ingredient.
All the food is cooked over fire. The taste is excellent, with very tender crab.

Atmosphere
First, you stand in line; then someone comes to you with the menu, and you place a preliminary order. When you’re seated, you can additionally order drinks and rice. The wait is quite comfortable. The place has a clean restroom.

Overall Impression
Jay Fai is a legend. She personally cooks every dish, and you can feel her strong energy. She works non-stop for 10 hours to serve every guest. It’s impressive.
Some people left before their turn, and that was a mistake.
If they’ve taken your pre-order, you will definitely be served.
I also noticed that people were arriving at 7 PM, and they were still seated and had their orders taken without a long wait.
I don’t see the point of coming very early — you can come at any time, and the waiting time will be more or less the same.

We visited on a Saturday for lunch and waited less than 15 minutes to be seated.

Our order included Crab Omelette, Dry Congee, Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles), Rad-Na Talay, and Crab Fried Rice. Every dish was delicious — the seafood was fresh, and the flavors were authentically Thai.

Jay Fai is truly remarkable. She personally cooks every dish herself, standing in front of the blazing stove for over 10 hours a day, four days a week. It’s incredible how she maintains the same high-quality taste in every single plate she serves. Very impressive!

Make sure to treat yourself to her cooking at some point; it’s an unforgettable experience!

After ~ 15-20 min of waiting, we were seated. The crab omlet is a must-try dish! Very smooth, soft meat and omlet was like 90% crab meat.
Drunken noodles had nice, bbq taste. Tom yum soup was also great – sour and spicy.
-1 star for service, that was a unwelcoming.
Overall, recommend to try it
