We tried the crab rangoon, pad Lao, nem khao, and sai gok at Naka Bistro (Lao & Thai Cuisine) — overall 10/10
The crab rangoon, pad Lao, and sai gok were absolutely amazing. The nem khao wasn’t really my taste, but it was still good and worth trying for the experience.
The servers were super nice (and pretty!) and literally called me a baddie — so obviously service = 10/10
I’ll definitely be back for the lunch specials

Had the Lao Platter and the Laap.
The food was rather delicious and very unique flavourings. The meat was delicious! I told them to make it authentic spice level and it surprised me how spicy it was but still very delicious.

The service was super slow. We got seated right away and the restuarant was about half full. It took at least 40 minutes for our meal after we ordered, and another 20 for dessert. Overall almost 2 hours just to eat dinner. Our waiter was friendly, except we barely saw him. It was the bartender (?) that made the rounds making sure we were okay. Wasn’t impressed at all about the slow service given the restaurant wasn’t full.

My favorite restaurant in Langley!

Amazing food I would recommend a dish but literally everything I’ve tried is 10/10. Everything was packed with flavor and was a great portion size.

Service was good and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great.

The interior was darker than the photos, but it was okay overall. The crying tiger beef was overcooked. The pad thai lacked acidity even though it was a tamarind lao pad thai, and it was very greasy. However, the tom kha soup was excellent—very well balanced and flavourful.

I had a late lunch yesterday, got there 45 minutes before they closed. I ordered the chicken pad Thai lunch special and asked them to reduce the sauce and that made it much less sweet, it was great! The spring roll was still hit, so I knew it was freshly made. Service was excellent.

Naka Bistro Lao & Thai Cuisine is a beautiful, spacious restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. The menu offers variety without being overwhelming, and the price point is very reasonable. The staff were friendly, and the flavor profiles of the dishes were good. Unfortunately, both entrées arrived warm rather than hot, the vegetables were overcooked, and the noodles were mushy instead of having a pleasant chew. We also waited about ten minutes for plates and cutlery after asking twice. With improvements to food timing and preparation, this spot has great potential for an excellent dining experience.

I have loved this restaurant for years, I was super disappointed. Crab Rangoons were sold out as well as the Thai sausage. It was my birthday dinner so I was so excited. Server was lovely but confused and overwhelmed. Party of 6 and ordered our appies which she mixed up. As soon we got our appies we barely had time to eat them and we got our main courses. Then they brought us appies we did not order. Our prawns were a no show. The chicken satays were overcooked and dry. My Guava margarita had salt on the rim even though I said no salt and had to switch my drink with my son. They no longer have an appie platter . They automatically changed a 20% tip on our bill because it was 6 people without telling us when we made the reservation. The table was right in front of a giant flat screen which was really annoying. Music was totally loud and obnoxious and it was like being in a Vancouver nightclub. It was hard to talk because the music was so loud. The food was good but not as good as it used to be.

The tom khem is really good and the thai ice tea is decent. Service isnt bad although they initially forgot our drinks. Would come again to try their other dishes.

We don’t get out to Langley very often (nor do we see Laotian food around town) but we visited Naka in April.

We ordered the Spring Rolls ($13) to start. These come with minced pork and are tightly packed. We also ordered the Green Curry Chicken ($21) which comes with rice. This was a huge dish. Flavours were a bit sweet but tasty. Speaking of huge dishes, the Pad Thai with Prawns ($21 + $2) was a literal mountain of noodles.

We also ordered the Chicken Satay ($15) as an appy but it took quite a while to come out (we were almost finished eating when it came out). I found the chicken satay to be quite dry and tough to eat. The main dishes were better than the appies

Also got some drinks on the form of Thai Cream Soda ($7) green and Passion Iced Tea ($7).

Next time we visit, we’d like to try some Laotian dishes.

Good atmosphere, disappointing dishes.

We came in for dinner yesterday after deciding between Ban Chok Dee and Naka, and settling here as we wanted to try a new place.

2 major complaints:

First, from ordering to getting our food. It took more than 30 minutes. This feels like a really long time considering it was during prime dinner time (we arrived around 6:40 PM). During which a bug flew into our water.

Secondly, the food doesn’t taste all that different from mall Thai food. The $15 chicken satay was dry and lacking flavour. The $23 Crying Tiger dish came with a serving of sticky rice that was heated up in a plastic bag? It felt like the bag was half melted, and the sticky rice unevenly heated and very hard.

The $21 pad Thai was the only okay dish we ordered. It’s hard to mess up this classic but it’s nothing special. The dish felt like it was siting for a long time. Dry noodles with sauce and the whole thing was stuck together. I almost feel like it was microwaved. The taste is on the sweeter side. And because of it was so stuck together I had no luck mixing in the bean sprouts on top. I’ll say it’s a generous portion with a good amount of protein. But it just isn’t anything I’d get again.

Overall, it’s been a disappointing experience and I would recommend trying somewhere else if you were craving Thai food.
