I have tried this place for freshly roasted coffee beans a few times over the past 2 years. Every time I’ve chosen the beans and asked for a “very light roast”. They then proceed to roast the beans to what most people would call medium roast. If you like darker roasted beans, this place may be for you. If you like lighter roast, try somewhere else. Today I brought back a bag of beans that was darker than I had asked for and the workers replaced it, but to my disappointment it was the same medium roast. They even tried to tell me that the beans “won’t look light colored when they’re roasted light” which is obvious. As other reviews have pointed out, the customer service at this location is somewhat lacking. I’ve had better luck getting lighter roast beans from the other location on N. Oak. If you’re looking for lighter roast beans, look elsewhere.
Pros: good selection of unroasted coffee bean varieties and drinks. They roast the beans fast (ready within 10 mins).
Cons: the beans always come out medium roast or darker no matter how light of a roast you ask for. The workers are not very friendly and act like you’re inconveniencing them.

Their coffee is absolutely delicious. But the customer service really needs some work. I love the building and the outdoor sitting area. Everything I’ve had there taste wonderful. But the young people that work there the customer service just needs some work.

Headrush roasts coffee in the shop daily so it’s super fresh! Great service with delicious and unique lattes (Biscoff cookie butter is my favorite) and prices 20% to 30% lower than you-know-who. Diverse selection of fresh pastries made locally. Friendly baristas who like their jobs and provide great service. And, Headrush is locally owned…it’s a hometown home run!!

I’ve been trying as many coffee shops around KC as I possibly can. I was in the Northland so looked up coffee shops and found this local gem! Lots of cool artwork on the walls, some for sale, some NFS. The coffee and tea menus had tons of options. I will 100% go back there again when I’m in the area!

I go here quite often and I love their matcha and coffee. Like others have mentioned, the workers seem like they don’t wanna be there. They barely talk to you, don’t smile, and have attitude most of the time. The office I work for dropped off gifts for the holidays and they didn’t even say thank you. So awkward to offer here lol.

Love it here but wish they would fix the problem of it constantly smelling like something is burning inside. It really hurts my eyes and makes it hard to breathe. Hope you guys can fix this recurring issue! You need better air ventilation. It can’t be healthy for your employees who have to be here for longer periods than the average customer. Stick to drive thru until this is fixed.

Have loved this place and appreciated the great service for years! Apparently never reviewed them everyone I’ve encountered here is kind and respectful. The coffee is delicious and pleasantly roasted in-house. I love the Sunset Rush (chocolate/orange). Husband got the sausage and bacon breakfast burrito today – you can see it’s filled really generously – he said he would 100% get it again.

I love going to head rush, I go there everyday, and some staff are amazing with my Dog and kids. I been holding my tongue on this but today was just an icing to the cake of the bad experiences I been having with one of the staff members. Every-time he always haves an attitude for the most simplest thing. It’s uncomfortable to even order with him because it’s like he doesn’t even want any customers to be there. It’s sucks because I generally love the coffee and everybody in there. I have had great experience with everybody else but him. Today I placed an order with him and I nicely told him that was suppose to be ice, he grabs it aggressively and said “well your gonna wait a minute” this isn’t my first time experiencing his aggressiveness with me. I grabbed it back and told him it’s fine and walked away.

went today with my daughter. we have never been here before so from first impressions the place is nice. the staff is alright. they are very soft spoken and just didn’t seem to want to be there. I ordered a chocolate croissant which was good and the breakfast burrito was pretty good, but the self service burrito microwave was weird. and I ordered banana bread it was a brick 0-10 and the pumpkin iced latte tasted nasty.

I love their coffee and food, but the staff never seems especially friendly. I feel like as a barista I’m allowed to say that. Everything else is great. It just seems like they would rather be somewhere else. I mean, I get it. When I’m at my job I feel the same way, but I don’t show it.
Edit: I was in yesterday and when I went up to the counter and even said hello they literally just stared at me in return until I gave them my order. Like are you kidding me? Seriously I dont expect a ton but if you work in service you have to at least greet your customers. Actually ridiculous.
