We had dinner at Serenité in Medina last night to celebrate New Year’s Eve, and it was hands down our favorite meal of the year. This was our fourth or fifth visit, and they continue to impress every single time. Even with a reservation mix-up that I caused, they were incredibly accommodating and were able to fit us in without issue.

I had the duck breast special and it was absolutely delicious, truly melt-in-your-mouth good. Our guest ordered the walleye, which was cooked perfectly with a crisp crust and tender, flaky center. The cocktails were also excellent, well balanced and full of flavor. For dessert we shared the torte and the tart, and both were spot on.

The service was fantastic. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, and the rest of the staff was just as welcoming. At no point were we waiting for service, and nothing felt rushed. They even took the time to show photos while describing the specials, which was a nice touch.

The atmosphere is one of the things we love most about Serenité. One side feels intimate and cozy, the other open and bright, and being in a historic building only adds to the experience. While we were there for New Year’s Eve, it’s not just a special-occasion place, it’s great any time you want a really good meal.

A true local gem. Highly recommend.

I had the opportunity to preview Serenite’s reopening tonight and it did not disappoint! My steak was the perfect temp. The drinks were tasty and beautiful. Service was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. I brought some teenagers with me and they were instagramming the dishes they looked so pretty. I wouldnt have changed a thing. The cheese dip appetizer was suprising and I highly recommend it. I cant wait to return and try another dish. We are so lucky in Medina to have a few amazing local restaurants and this is at the top of the list for me.

This is the “Old Stagecoach,” as I knew it, built in 1858. Interesting history. Exsquite atmosphere, but relaxed attire. Excellent everything. Attention to detail is acknowledged. The woodwork is as divine as the food. Serenite has creative flavors that will surprise and not disappoint. Attached a picture of the fish fry we had during Lent and historical photos. The coleslaw is one of the two best I have ever had, no mayo. The Jo’s-Jo’s are something completely different and delicious. They make their own tartar sauce too. I’ve never had anything like it. I asked for an extra cup. Normally I don’t like whipped butter, but WoW. It will blow you away. Look forward to going back to try the other enticing menu items, AND they change seasonally. When the weather accommodates, I’m sure I’ll be sitting on the covered porch smelling the A.I. Root candle aromas and having another delicious, relaxing experience. There is talk of opening the upper covered porch as well. If you haven’t been here, you are missing out!

Serenity is truly one of Medina’s greatest assets.
As a REALTOR®, I love bringing clients here, and as a local, I’m here just as often with friends. The food is consistently excellent, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the location so close to the Medina Square makes it the perfect spot to gather. The servers are always friendly and genuine, and I can honestly say I’ve never had bad service. Walking through the door and seeing familiar faces makes it feel like home. We almost always see Tony Bianco! Serenity being both a restaurant and a culinary institute, with staff made up of people in recovery, makes the experience even more meaningful. You’re not just having an amazing meal… you’re supporting lives being rebuilt, and you can feel that purpose in every interaction.

A Hidden Gem with a Purpose: Sérénité Restaurant & Culinary Institute

In the heart of Medina, tucked inside a quiet downtown corner, lies a restaurant that doesn’t just serve food — it serves redemption, hope, and second chances. Sérénité Restaurant & Culinary Institute, operated by the Recovery Center of Medina County (RCMC), has elevated the meaning of “dining out” into something truly extraordinary.

From the first bite to the last, the entire experience was exceptional. The Gamberi al Limone appetizer set the tone — perfectly balanced citrus and garlic over tender shrimp, a dish that would rival any upscale coastal bistro. The Caesar salad followed, crisp and fresh with just the right snap and seasoning, before leading to the masterpiece of the evening: the Pork Porterhouse. Served with silky mashed potatoes, crisp broccoli, and a rich red-eye gravy, this entrée defined flavor harmony — savory, sweet, and deeply satisfying. The portion size was generous, yet plated with fine-dining precision. Every element on the plate sang in tune, revealing a kitchen where both skill and heart lead the way.

Behind this exceptional meal stands a team of individuals who embody the mission of Sérénité. The restaurant is not merely a place to eat; it’s a living, breathing extension of recovery in motion — a social enterprise where people in recovery gain not just culinary training, but confidence, discipline, and purpose. Every plate tells a story of someone rebuilding their life through dedication and grace.

The atmosphere reflects the same balance found in the food — warm yet refined, humble yet world-class. My server, Taylor, was outstanding — personable, attentive, and genuinely proud of the work happening around her. Executive Chef Niko Courey deserves the highest praise for his artistry and leadership. His ability to craft globally inspired dishes while mentoring his team is what makes Sérénité unique. The operation runs smoothly under the thoughtful guidance of General Manager Ray LaMarca, whose professionalism anchors the entire dining experience. And behind it all, Board President Anthony Bianco continues to champion a vision that’s transforming lives — proving that fine dining can be both delicious and deeply meaningful.

The Recovery Center of Medina County’s mission — to strengthen communities by supporting individuals and families affected by substance use — shines through every aspect of Sérénité. It’s more than a restaurant; it’s a training ground for redemption, a bridge between recovery and independence. Through this initiative, students earn credentials, learn valuable skills, and rediscover dignity through meaningful work.

In a world that often rushes past those in need, Sérénité stands as a reminder that every person deserves a seat at the table — literally and figuratively.

Exceptional food. Extraordinary mission.

Wow! What a phenomenal place to eat!! I went for the first time at 8pm on Feb 13 and there were 2 other tables when we arrived. The service was great, everyone was so friendly. The food was absolutely incredible. We got the calamari, chicken Marsala, braised short rib sandwich, and the valentines dessert (strawberry cheesecake parfait).
Everything was exceptional!
I was looking into the history of this restaurant and I love what they do to help the sober community. I WILL be coming back!

Went on a Friday night for dinner. We ordered appetizers (beef carpaccio—excellent!) and then moved on to order our meals. I had the braised beef, it was truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I love the innovation on classic dishes here. Our server was great, he let us dine at our own pace and was very attentive and knowledgeable.

On our way out, we got to meet the chef—he was very humble and kind. You can tell how much everyone here cares about the food and the experience.

We will definitely be back! Thanks for the great dining experience and amazing food. Can’t wait to try more!

I had the porterhouse pork loin with squash and baked onions and it was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! My wife had a pasta dish that needed a little more flavor.
