Usually I have enjoyed meals from CrackerBarrel Restaurants, however I was greatly disappointed at my meal on Monday. I ordered breakfast items, eggs, catfish, biscuits, grits, and baked apples. The wait staff was great, however the food was not. The fish, ordered broiled, was barely cooked. It was sent back. When my new fish arrived, the rest of the meal was partially eaten and cold. The fish was excellently seasoned, just not done. The apples were delicious. The eggs were served barely warm, and got cold fast. The country store part was as exciting as usual, stocked with unique items and excellent selection of old time candies and drinks. There was parking available right outside. The entry is handicapped accessible. Overall it was a fair experience. I will give them another chance, but not in the near future.

Skip the Tinley Park location and seek out another location because this is my 3rd time here and my 3rd time being disappointed.
Meatloaf is just dried out where it literally was heart breaking to me because I drove over an hour from Chicago to get to this meat loaf only for it to come out so hard and dry. It was a block of I don’t know what!
But that’s not the only thing with the life sucked out of it ..,. The Chicken tenders were so dried that you would think it was chicken jerky. OMG I was really disappointed in the cooking skills at this place.
So after returning the fried dried chewy chicken tenders we replaced it with smother fried steak … I grew up in Southern fried steak… What was given to us was no fried steak. It actually was a smashed hand pack ground beef burger that was disguised as a breaded smother steak.
I don’t think Cracker Barrel is worth it anymore. The quality of getting that home cooked feeling in a meal is now longer their desire to serve customers. Everything is over cooked process cheap food.
Not worth the time, or money!
Go to your local diner and support them over this place. The cost for shrimp and Uncle Ben’s rice is ridiculously for what you pay for in the taste.
The only good thing was our alcoholic beverages…I give the peach mango mimosas a 5 the rest could stay with the cook because it was just POOR CHEAP OVER COOKED BAD QUALITY.

We have enjoyed meals & souvenirs at Cracker Barrel in multiple states. One constant is the quality of food and the menu options. Always enjoyable. Make sure to stop by the Tinley Park location or your local neighborhood. You won’t be disappointed!

Not sure what I expected. This was my second time ever going to a Cracker Barrel. I thought I would try it again as my first experience was less than satisfactory. I tried a different location thinking it may have been the chef, and I use that term loosely.
I don’t know how they stay in business unless it’s because of the country store.
I had the steak tidbits with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I would eat that broccoli all day, best part of the meal. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm and reminiscent of old fashioned library paste. The tidbits bits, while eatable were nothing to write home about.
I know many people love this place, which is why I have tried it twice, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why when there are so many equally priced options with way better food.

Ordered the campfire chicken dinner and THOROUGHLY disappointed… The flavor was great, but the portion of the meat was pathetic. I’ve NEVER had such tiny chicken. It’s supposed to be half a chicken and seems like they’re serving Cornish hen instead (noticed after showing my BF the pictures). When I asked the waitress if the chicken is always this small, her response was “Yeah.” I said “Really?!” She replied “yep”. And I expressed the flavor was good but never had such tiny chicken EVER and that it’s disappointing. She just asked if there was anything else and I said no thank you. I don’t complain or question often, but it hit me later that when I do say something, there’s usually some empathy, offer to order something different or add something to the order, an apology, or a manager has come out to see what the issue was and if there’s a possible resolution. None of that happened this evening and it’s also disappointing. Food got 2 stars because the flavor was good (except the biscuits weren’t great), service got 3 stars because the hostesses were pleasant and the server wasn’t “rude” just lack of anything above and beyond in any capacity, and atmosphere 4 because the shop is cute.

The food was fantastic. I had the Mommas pancake breakfast, Fried Shrimp, Loaded hash browns, onion petals, and lemonade. The batter on the shrimp and onion petals was delicious. I love this place

While normally this restaurant receives a 5 out of 5, today there a couple hiccups receiving utensils and lids for leftovers.

The food and atmosphere were great as usual.

Overall still an A.

Was told a 40min wait. Ended up waiting more than an hour. I got the fried steak with the hash brown casserole. The meat tasted like unseasoned hamburger. The hash browns were great. I was given in my opinion a small portion. The pancakes were great! We got our food before we even got our drinks. They have Coke Zero! But I was so disappointed to pay $3.19 for a pop and not get it until 10 min after ordering it. Then only got one refill. Because our waitress being busy. She was doing the best she could. The gifts there were great! I feel the food has gone down hill. I used to be excited to go , now I am good if I don’t go again. Honestly I would go shop at their store rather than eat there.

Horrible experience I went to Cracker Barrel with my family this Thursday we went to three different locations: Merrillville IN , Hammond IN, as well as the Tinley Park IL location. And we were only able to eat at the Tinley Park location. Merrillville and Hammond had been having electrical work done causing them to close early at 8 PM. And even after all of those attempts to just sit down and have a great meal with my family when we arrived to Tinley Parks location our hostess forgot to present us with menus until we reminded her after sitting at the table for some time . Our Waitress was very friendly and tried to be accommodating. However, nothing was resolved because it’s simply not her fault. And was very hard for her as well as the food isn’t being prepared by the waiter and makes her powerless in that area. I’d ordered grilled chicken tenders two sides of macaroni and one corn my sides were fine. However, the macaroni could have used a little salt and/or pepper and was blander than usual. However, me and my mother’s chicken tenders were horrible and beyond grilled, they taste like charcoal(over smoked) and were very tough (despite the top of some of them not appearing to look bad on one side the other side would be black. The waitress tried to assist with this problem and replaced the tenders for me and my mom 2x but nothing changed the food was still below average or at least what I’m used to encountering at this restaurant. I had been going here since I was a child. And this place was known as a staple for me and my family. My grandmother would take us there all the time and when we’d go we’d sit in the right corner every single time so we were just looking to relieve those moments now that she’s gone, but instead we left with a traumatizing experience.

I took my senior citizen dad here for dinner and it was a solid experience, as expected.

The staff was courteous and helpful. The vibe is typically pretty chill, whenever I’ve been. The only slight issue was that there weren’t many handicapped parking spaces- which is surprising, due to the majority of the customers are seniors.

The menu didn’t offer any big surprises, but I knew what to expect and was not disappointed (the honey fried chicken is a new favorite of mine).

My dad enjoyed his pot roast (unfortunately the kitchen was out of potatoes) and crushed his sweet tea.

As long as I can get him out and about, we’ll be back.
