High marks all around for this quaint, comfy cafe. The sandwiches were great, and the desserts — home made goodness… and what an assortment. Plenty of sunshine and a view of the river. As a side benefit you can tell your friends you ate at the courthouse where Abraham Lincoln visited.

First time trying this because brown bag bistro was closed. Very disappointed. EXTREMELY hot and humid in the building, took forever for our sandwiches to be made, despite them being the size of a small phone. Portions are tiny… for $15 a sandwich is sooooooo not worth it. They put a slice of bread inside of my MJD turkey sandwich to fill in the empty space, this feels like a $5 gas station sandwich. Will not be coming back.
Just go to the sandwich shop down the street if you want a big, delicious and hot sandwich.

Update: I did the math. My Just Desserts found a way to get a (former) customer to pay full price for a single slice of stale mangled dessert that was thrown into the trash after two bites. I had thought maybe I would edit the review to say the brownie (or sheet cake, I’m not really sure) was actually good despite my bad experience. But, no. It tasted like something you’d make from a box and let your kid decorate then forgot about for five days. Looked bad, tasted bad, overall bad experience. I am giving two stars instead of one as I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, where it will remain.
I have been here many times before and it has always been great. I was excited to see that they were on a new favorite app, Too Good to Go. The concept of the app is that local restaurants and grocers can sell nearly expired items for a discount. The pies and cakes here are normally great, as well as soups and sandwiches. When I saw they were advertising 18 dollars worth of desserts for 6 dollars I immediately snapped up the deal. When I showed the young lady my app she went to the basement then came back up to the kitchen. A few minutes later I was given a single mangled dessert that looks like a Halloween themed brownie. Halloween was 5 days ago. I wouldn’t pay 6 dollars for this, and if someone said Hey this is an 18 dollar dessert, I would say What are you insane?
This was always a favorite spot to take my grandmothers. My mom likes it. My friends like it. I am totally soured now and won’t be visiting again.

This place is picture perfect. And the fish was amazing. Of course you have to save room for dessert. Highly recommend Mrs. Led better pie

My husband ,cousin and I stopped at My Just Desserts for some pie after sight seeing in the area. Their pies are delicious. New owners are friendly and told us about the history of their building. We will definitely come back the next time we are in the area.

What a great little find ! Need a sweet treat or a midday pick-me-up, then you’re in the right place. PIES, PIES, PIES, and a few surprises. .it’s going to be hard to pick. There’s also sandwiches, soups and great chicken salad if you like. Service with a smile is key here and helpful suggestions if you need. Everyone we spoke to had great recommendations and all seemed to be regulars which says a lot. Portions are ample and prices are reasonable. This is a must try…but be careful, you’re going to need a nap !

I have been coming to this restaurant with my mom since I was a kid and have always loved the food and found the atmosphere charming. Recently, we had My Just Desserts cater their famous Tollhouse Brownies for our wedding, and they were absolutely perfect.

Our server was outstanding! Service is en pointe. We ordered the chicken Caesar salad, chicken salad sandwich, turkey pot pie and a small soup. We also had the raspberry cream sliced pie, and their pumpkin pie. You can really taste the clothes and the spice in the pumpkin pie it wasn’t too bad. The raspberry cream for me was outstanding. Super cute place, very American.

Convenient location located in downtown Alton, plenty of parking was available along the street or in the lot. But let’s talk about why you’re heading here…the food! I enjoyed the daily special and a bowl of white chicken chili, both were amazing! And the desert selection was amazing! I had a slice of cheesecake, but three or four more selections caught my eye. Very friendly and engaging staff, even during a very busy lunch rush. I will definitely be back again!

Grabbed a few pies to go.
Their pecan pie is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! Not too sweet, flaky-buttery crust. Almost like a baklava taste and texture to it which is phenomenal.
Gotta get back and try some more!
