Social Profile:

Killer roast beef sandwiches since 1967. The recipe for our famous roast beef sandwich is simple: 100% real top round beef. Slow roasted on-site for three hours. Shaved extra thin. Served medium rare on a lightly toasted buttered bun. And topped with a dash of secret seasoning. It’s the same way we’ve done it for over 50 years. Voted Best Fries by St. Louis Magazine.

Counter-serve chain specializing in slow-roasted beef sandwiches served hot on toasted buns.

Super great local chain. Love the roast beef and the newer Cubano sandwich. And if you want some classic style French fries, this is the place.

Douglas and the team was absolutely extraordinary last night when we bought dinner. Douglas should definitely be promoted to a manager or at least a significant bump in pay. Great job to the team at Lion’s Choice Ellisville.

I pulled into the second drive thru lane on my lunch hour and waited. No one greeted me, no one said they’d be with me in a moment, but I waited until the person in the other lane was taken care of because she was there before me. Once I saw her pull up after completing her order, I said “Hello?” wondering if my lane was possibly closed. Another person drove up to the speaker in the other lane and placed their order, and I said “Hello?” again into my speaker thinking maybe things weren’t working in my lane. As the 3rd (technically 5th guest as someone was behind me in the 2nd lane) pulled up to the first lane’s speaker, I decided to pull to the window. When the young man opened the window and proceeded to tell me a total, I let him know that wasn’t my total because I’d not been able to place my order yet. I explained to him had I not, I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to place my order as two people (the one in front of me and now the one behind me) had both placed their orders but pulled up AFTER I had. He proceeded to tell me he couldn’t take my order at the window as it would mess up their times. When I asked if there was a manager, he said he was the manager. He further explained that if they took my order at the window while someone else was placing their order at the drive thru speaker, it would throw their times off by 3-4 minutes and they’d all get in trouble. His times were technically off anyway, when it came to waiting on people in the order they drove up to your restaurant.
It’s unfortunate that this young man was more worried about “getting in trouble” than doing what’s right, and I can only assume that directive comes from the person who may respond to my review.
If you’re going to have 2 drive up lanes, please teach your employees how to manage two lanes, how to greet the customers upon arrival, and let them know it’ll be just a moment. I’d have been a bit more patient under those circumstances.
I’m only clicked on one star to allow me to post my review, after all, I was NOT allowed to place my order at the window and drove away with nothing.

Food is still decent, but service has really hit rock bottom at this location. I’m sure they’re overwhelmed, but they have a hard time getting orders taken, together and correct. I’ll wait a reasonable time for good quality food, but an extra 20 minutes for an order that should take 10 is crazy. They won’t be around much longer if they don’t fix the service.

I don’t know if this location has just gotten bad in the last year or so, or if Lion’s Choice in general has made some changes but the food is consistently poor now. It doesn’t taste like it used to. At least at the Clarkson location. I haven’t been to any of the others in a long time.

It’s also insanely expensive. I went there a week ago. The only thing I ordered was a single king roast beef sandwich with cheddar. No fries, no drink. After taxes, this was nearly $9! For one little sandwich! And it didn’t taste good.

I’ve stopped going to LC after having been a fan since the mid 90’s. If the prices weren’t so outrageous I might try another location again, but I’m not paying this much money for fast food. Sorry.

I have been eating at LC for 30 years and I had my first bad experience the other day. Sandwich was chewy with fat and grisle. Will not go to this location again
Sad!

The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Fries are amazing and ice cream the perfect consistency.

Highly disappointing. First time visitor on 27jan2025 with high hopes. Couple of remarkable key notes:

Kids meal claims they help you easily make healthy choices, but requires you in reality to choose a sugary dessert as a side item instead of maybe a 2nd savory option. I had to choose an ice cream cone or cookie instead of applesauce alongside my veggie sticks. So that’s kind of dumb. Veggies were baby carrots, broccoli flowers and two grape tomatoes in a lidded portion cup. They were relatively fresh and edible.

Secondly (and this is also just anecdotal), but the milk I got with the kids meal was a week expired. So maybe just chalk it up to poor training. But still a liability and worth mentioning.

Also worth mentioning is that my kid liked the Mac and cheese. But my #1 roast beef was unremarkable and if one has ever worked in food service before they could determine my French fries were “double fried” to lazily reheat them and make them passable for serving, instead of rightfully dropping fresh potatoes for the new incoming order…(also poor training).

We won’t be returning.

I’ve been in line for 45 mins. Person at the window literally said nothing as they took my payment. Gave me a drink with soda spilled all over the sides. Two dipped cones just came out without the dip. Still waiting on the food….

Missed a sandwich but charged us. We failed to check overstuffed bag. Next time overstuffed means the order is incorrect and you will be short changed because workers don’t care to do the right thing.
