As soon as we walked in the door with our esa approved Maltese a man came from behind counter not identifying himself very loudly in front of everyone telling us we were not allowed to have our dog in the store
I proceeded to tell him we had papers and he continued to argue with us in front of everyone that didn’t matter we were not allowed to bring her into the store mind you my wife was carrying her in her arms
I left store to go get our papers left my wife there as he made gesture as I was leaving good thing I didn’t see it or they would be calling an ambulance for him
She is a very friendly dog doesn’t bark and well behaved as times before even other employees and patrons would comment on how cute she is
The man never told us his name he was about 5’10” and had beard very rude
We got to camp and told our friend she said she sent message but never heard back
We told others at camp and they were surprised on the rudeness as we never had that problem before needless to say we have not been back and I know of others we have told will also not stop anymore
As to owners response it’s amazing that every other grocery store that we have been to we have had no trouble and they even welcome pets to the point where the cashiers even have treats to hand out
When we tell them what happened they are shocked and amazed that they refused us entry and in the summer heat we were not leaving her in the car
On 1/21/26, I was approached by Jim the store manager when leaving who claimed that I stole product. I was already surprised to be stopped while in a moving vehicle, but then Jim asked me to straight up “see my pockets.” In a very unfriendly way.
Because he has no right to search my person I told him no and then parked to go get this clear mistake sorted out. Jim…had ran into the back office to apparently watch the camera footage. which means he had no proof any crime had been committed to begin with and was just stopping moving vehicles on someone’s “hunch.”. It took me loudly asking where the guy accusing me of theft was before he reappeared.
I explained that I had not taken a thing, showed him my lunch bag with the product I had just purchased and told him that I would wait until he reviewed the footage and would then like an apology for his actions and accusations once proven right.
5 or so minutes later Jim did indeed confirm I had not stolen anything. He gave me an extremely insincere apology and then proceeded to try and blame me by saying that my sometimes quiet/grumpy unwillingness to have conversations in the morning had “caused complaints” and that I was a rude and bad customer who should have been “kicked out” already. – I’ve never once been talked to about this but would agree that I tend to just want to buy my items and get moving in the mornings, though how that is rude is honestly beyond me.
I really don’t see myself coming here any longer if I have any other reliable option. So, please watch out for the gas lighting, lying store manager Jim. I’ll be spending my roughly $350 a month in work supplies and food at another convenience store.
