We normally we love Sam’s. Good food and service and amazing views of the Gulf and dolphins and birds. We went with friends from out of town and we all loved the view!!!! Our friends ordered 2 lobster bisque soups as appetizers and we ordered meals. Meals came but no soups. Meals were very good….but had to ask about the bisques. Waitress came back halfway through our meals and said they were making the bisques. One of our guests said no to the soup since they were halfway through their meal and the other asked for it to go. Fast forward the next day, our guest tried the bisque which the flavor was good but not one piece of lobster in it. Considering that it came so late in the meal that we had to bring it home for the next day and the price for the lobster it would’ve been nice to have some lobster even if it was small pieces in it. Good flavor but came late and no lobster in the lobster bisque. Next time we’ll get the New England clam chowder which has clams and potatoes and is very good and will be hopefully be brought to us as an appetizer.

Love this place. Great food, I had the fried Grouper fingers platter and it was delicious! Not too much breading, great creamy tarter sauce, along with fries. Great beer selection (try the Red-Right-Return, a local brew very very good dark red) service was good. They have live music many nights. The best place to watch a sunset!

We have been to Sam’s Beach Bar a couple of times… we love that we can sit close to the beach while dining… and the food is great…

Bill was our server and did a great job…Raven was one of the gals who helped us with seating… everyone was nice and we enjoyed our visit today…

We will definitely visit again…

We ate here for dinner on a Sunday after sunset rush (great sunset views but can get busy). There was no wait to get a table but it took quite a while for anyone to notice we were there after getting a table.

We started with drinks and gator bites, drinks were cold and gator bites were pretty good.

Followed by lobster bisque and fried shrimp basket. The lobster bisque was ok but there was zero lobster in the mix and was just ok, would not recommend. The fried shrimp basket on the other hand while a bit overpriced was really good with large butterflied shrimp. Would recommend that.

Would probably skip next time and try one of the less touristy spots next time.

I’d like to paint a complete picture of our dining experience tonight. First, we were quoted 30-45 minutes until a table was ready for our group of 4 so we went and killed time by the water. After a little bit we asked how many tables were in front of us and they said four, so we walked along the gulf. The gulf is alongside the patio for the restaurant and we counted at least 6 open tables. About 25 minutes later we decide to head up and still weren’t seated for about another 10 minutes. We were at the tail end of the sunset at this point and got a corner table which was beautiful. The umbrella for the table just so happened to be be broken. No big deal other than it’s blocking any sort of view for a clear conversation. Shortly after sitting us it gets dark and another ‘convenient’ moment – the patio lights are out. Obviously something they knew about and something that should have been communicated to a table you are seating on the patio late sunset. Our server piper was not very friendly from throughout our entire experience, and when we had an emergency arise at home right after ordering and attempted to pay for the appetizers and drinks we’d consumed, she included the entrees in our total telling us her manager was a hard ass and she wouldn’t be able to take them off of our tab so we’d have to wait and take them to go. It took another 20 minutes to get our food in lieu of an emergency which clearly could have been removed from our bill so we could take care of what we had going on and leave in a timely manner. Would maybe come back strictly for drinks at the bar as it was a beautiful setting but terrible customer service and a lack of general awareness would steer me elsewhere for dining in the area.

Went here for dinner with some friends and we were drawn in by the idea of watching the sunset over the water—it did not disappoint. The view was absolutely gorgeous and definitely the highlight of the evening. There was live music playing as well that was enjoyable.

I have a wheat allergy, so the menu was a bit limited for me since many items were fried or had breading. For the table, we ordered the fried pickles and the pulled pork nachos. For four people, it was a lot of food. The nachos were decent but nothing standout, and I couldn’t try the pickles because of the breading.

For my entrée, I ordered the blackened grouper with potatoes and vegetables. The grouper itself was fresh and flavorful, but the sides fell short. The potatoes had an odd taste, and the vegetables were just okay—I ended up adding extra salt and pepper for flavor. Honestly, I was already pretty full from the nachos, so I mainly focused on the fish.

Overall, the meal was hit-or-miss, but the beautiful sunset made the experience worthwhile.

First time going here. My friend and I sat at the bar area. We had the shrimp and crab stuffed potatoes for an appetizer they were off the chain, definitely would recommend you try in these. I had the grouper tacos that came with rice and beans. And I’d have to say that everything tastes really really good

I love visting great local waterfront spots, and Sam’s Beach Bar is a Pasco County classic! The waterfront views are gorgeous, the atmosphere is pure Florida, and the seafood is always fresh and delicious. Even if you’re not into seafood, there are plenty of great options on the menu for landlubbers. Definitely worth a visit!

Dear Manager of Sam’s Hudson,

I have been coming here awhile and noticed that you could use some help.
You could offer better appetizers for non seafood eating people.
Such as, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, potato skins etc.
Your bathrooms are always nasty and smell horrible, a re-model is needed and a good power washing of the concrete would be nice.
I also noticed that your bathroom cleaning schedule is never filled out, so no one is checking them periodically.
Birds need to be controlled better.
Your entrance is inconvenient, parking is terrible. Maybe a sign for the additional parking out back…?
Drink prices are seriously inflated with not much liquor in them.
39 $ without tip for 3 drinks… absurd.
The chairs are as uncomfortable as you can get.
A bar to put your feet on around the bar would be nice and maybe some hangers for lady’s purses ?
On a personal note, my family and I planned for Christmas eve at your establishment and visited the website there was no mention of a Christmas eve early closing, we even called the day before and on Christmas eve and no one answered so we figured you were open normal hours… That didn’t go well. Other people showed up and were also in the dark. One person even ordered online food that was not fulfilled, they were given a refund but still came out to pick it up.
You can do better.
I also suggest you look at your online reviews…

When we were greeted at the entrance, the hostess asked whether we would be comfortable sitting outside and if the sun would bother us. We said that it might and specifically requested a table with an umbrella. However, we were seated at a table without an umbrella.

Later, when the server came to take our drink order , we politely asked if it would be possible to change tables, as there were available tables with umbrellas. The server did not seem very friendly, and it felt as though our request for a table change may have upset her. After that, another staff member came and showed us a different table.

When our food arrived, I had ordered the Atlantic salmon, which I had eaten at this restaurant two weeks earlier. When the dish was served, I initially did not notice that the potatoes on the side were very old. I took one bite, and the taste was sour and stale. After looking more closely, I realized the potatoes had even turned slightly purple, and the smell was unpleasant. Everything on the plate, except for the salmon itself, was cold, which made me think the garnish had been prepared earlier and kept in the refrigerator.

Two weeks ago, the same dish came with freshly cooked potatoes served hot alongside the fish, and I know the taste because I had already experienced it. This time, it was absolutely not the same. While the salmon itself was tasty, the portion was extremely small and did not compare at all to what I had received previously.

When we informed the server about the issue, she apologized and offered to bring French fries instead, which we accepted. The fries were fine, but overall I was very dissatisfied with my meal. I paid $28 for a tiny piece of fish and a side of fries.

I had already tasted one of the old potatoes while trying to understand the flavor when the plate first arrived, and the taste stayed with me for a long time—it was truly a very unpleasant experience. I do not plan to return.
