One of my longtime favorites was the Lobster Mac & Cheese, which appears to have been replaced by the Lomo Saltado Mac & Cheese. While I did miss the lobster version, the Lomo Saltado Mac & Cheese was still very good and ended up being my favorite dish of the evening. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. That said, for a $30 dish, I would have appreciated a more generous portion of the lomo, as the amount of meat felt a bit light compared to the pasta.
The Asado de Tira skewers were another highlight, tender, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection with an excellent texture.
The Causa Limeña, however, seemed to be missing some of the vibrant flavor I remember from past visits. I can’t quite pinpoint what was different, but it felt slightly muted, possibly due to a change in ingredients.
The Yukitas were also underwhelming this time around. They were a bit dry and lacked flavor, even with the huancaína sauce.
I did enjoy the Chalaco ceviche, though something about the flavor profile felt slightly off compared to last year, perhaps a heavier hand with the lemon. It was still good, just not as memorable as before.
I also noticed what seems to be a subtle change in the interior ambiance since my last visit. On a positive note, the service continues to be excellent, attentive, efficient, and quick, with servers consistently checking in and refilling drinks.
Overall, while this visit didn’t quite match the consistently outstanding experiences I’ve had here in the past, it was still a solid meal. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 this time, and I’ll definitely return to see if it regains the level I remember.
My husband ordered the Wagyu Old Fashioned, which was well balanced and not overpowering. I always order the Chilcano. It is light, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. The staff is consistently kind and attentive. We have had the same bartender twice, once during restaurant week and again last night, and he was outstanding. He walked us through each course and advised us on when to enjoy the extra ceviche for the best experience. He was right.
I do not write many restaurant reviews, but this place deserves the love. A true gem in Westchase.
I ordered the Arroz con Mariscos and it was absolutely outstanding! Rich, flavorful, and loaded with seafood. One of those dishes you keep thinking about long after you leave.
Would I go back? I’m already dreaming about the Elixir de Tigre.
Highly recommend!
We returned! Didn’t do the tasting menu and we were again super impressed. We ordered ceviche, sushi, Mac and cheese lomo WHICH WAS AMAZING and Arroz con mariscos which is better than a paella.
Also don’t sleep on the churros at the end. Chefs kiss!
We decided for the tasting menu and it was great.
7 courses to see the variety of the cuisine and on top of that a waiter who explained each dish and made the experience even better.
Try it! You won’t be disappointed
