Donuts and Malasadas are top notch, other items depend!

We had to do a malasada stop while on the island and decided to try Island Craves. We tried two different iced donuts and a malasada and all were as good as it gets.

Outside of the donuts, we got some breakfast burritos and coffees. The burritos were way too greasy for both my wife and I. I’m fairly sensitive to that, be she is not, so the fact that it was too much for her too say something. Flavor was ok, but just overwhelming. Both of us thought the coffee was just ok. I got a large hot sugar free hazelnut latte and it seemed quite weak, I’m guessing maybe only two shots in that much coffee. I was also disappointed they didn’t have skim milk, which almost all coffee places do these days. Her iced latte was strong enough for her, but just thought flavor was ok.

We did see other people order the breakfast sandwiches and they looked good, I would recommend going that route instead.

Definitely worth trying, but maybe go house coffee and breakfast sandwich instead of burrito!

Malasadas that are not boring. Popular Hawaiian flavors filled inside if you like. We had coconut cream filled and mango preserves filled. So good. Also they got Donuts with pizzazz. The chocolate iced donut with toasted coconut sprinkles melted in the mouth. Will try to go again soon. Highly recommend.

I recently visited this place and had a mix of experiences. Here’s a breakdown of my thoughts:

### **Highlights**
– **Donuts**: Absolutely amazing! They were the highlight of my visit.
– **Cheese Bread**: I found it to be quite good, adding a nice touch to the meal.

### **Disappointments**
– **Buffalo Chicken**: Unfortunately, this dish didn’t meet expectations. The buffalo sauce had a texture more akin to cocktail sauce, which was off-putting.
– **Tenders**: These were overly salty and not very enjoyable, though they might work for kids in a pinch.
– **Pizza**: The thin crust pizza scored a modest 6.5. It was decent but nothing to write home about.

To top it all off, I waited over 30 minutes for my coffee after all the food was served, which was quite frustrating.

While the donuts and cheese bread were delightful, the inconsistent quality of the other dishes and the slow service leave me hesitant to recommend this place to friends. If you do decide to visit, I’d suggest sticking to the donuts!

We stopped in here to try a Masada. The mall thought itself was pretty good. Nothing to write home about. The staff were nice, but not friendly. They seem to have a pretty diverse menu with lots of variety however we’ve only tried the Malasada. Nothing else on the menu stood out as something. We really wanted to try resulting in a three star as opposed to a four star. Also, we saw a little lizard please enjoy.

Super cute table service place with an array of different hot foods and also donuts and ice cream ! Amazing iced and hot coffees too. I love loco mocos but didn’t want to have the whole thing and the guy even halved the portion for me and charged me less. A perfect stop in !

We stopped by for the maple bacon glazed donuts and they were amazing! Tbh better than the viral Holey Grail donuts on Instagram that’s also in Kauai. We were just racing to grab a donut, passed by this place and decided to try it. It tasted like chopped millionaire bacon on top of a perfectly made Krispy Kreme style glazed donut. The donut was super chewy, perfectly glazed, and the savory bacon balanced it so well. We were too full to get more but we’d definitely recommend it!! The store didn’t feel nice but the taste was def so good

Island Craves was a good find! From what it looks like, they are known for their breakfast items, but we went their for dinner and it was pretty good! The staff worked diligently to make our meal and it was out pretty quickly.

We had the Pork Crave Burger with waffle fries. The burger itself was much better than we were anticipating and the waffle fries were very crispy.

We also got a side of donut holes for dessert. For us having them in the afternoon they were still good. Very airy donut holes that would have been amazing fresh and warm.

Overall, we recommend Island Craves at any time of the day, especially breakfast!

Super cute place! Love all the decor, colors, etc. they did a great job. We got a coconut cream malasada that was DELICIOUS, then a cake batter milkshake, it was good but just tasted like sweet milk, nothing special and really expensive. Then lastly we got the loco moco breakfast plate and that was pretty mediocre, we had that at other places on the island and this was by far the worst loco moco we had…it needed a bit more salt and the beef patties were way too thick. Not trying to be mean, just leaving an honest review!

Island Craves is a must see on Kauai, and there are plenty of traditional donuts to choose from in addition to malasadas. My top picks were the ube and coconut cream malasadas. Fabulous place with great murals for photo ops, too!

My husband and I stopped here for the malasadas on our recent trip to Kauaʻi, and it did not disappoint! They were absolutely delicious. I had the unfilled cinnamon and sugar, and my husband had the coconut cream-filled and bavarian cream-filled. I also tried the maple glazed donut with coconut on top, wow, just wow. I wish we had taken photos of our food, but they were so good we devoured them in the car before I even thought about getting a picture! We will definitely be visiting again on our next vacation. Mahalo for the delicious sweet treats!
