Lovely place for breakfast, very cute with many delicious options. We were staying at the hotel so got to try almost entire breakfast menu and pretty much everything was good. Pastrami Hash and Vegetable skillet are quite filling whie crab cake Benedict is really delicious but on a lighter side.
Coffee comes in French press.
Place gets quite busy around 9 am.

I don’t even know where to begin – my dinner at Opaline was nothing short of breathtaking. Chef Kevin Llali has truly outdone himself, crafting a menu that feels both beautifully thoughtful and wildly indulgent.

The French onion soup set the tone for the evening , hands down the best I’ve ever had. The depth of the broth, the slow, perfect caramelization of the onions… it was comforting, elegant, and honestly beyond anything I could’ve imagined. I’m still thinking about it.

The beet salad was a work of art, both visually and in flavor. Creamy goat cheese (I’m almost certain), tender beets, and a bright citrus lift that tied everything together, refreshing yet decadent at the same time.

Then came the caviar dish, which was exceptional in every sense. Balanced, lush, and presented with such finesse that it felt almost too beautiful to eat.

But the dish that absolutely stopped me in my tracks was the Wellington. I don’t even know where to begin – flawlessly executed, perfectly cooked, wrapped in delicate pastry with layers of flavor that unfolded with every bite. Truly unforgettable. And the legendary 40-layer short rib lasagna? Rich, decadent, and deeply satisfying, just like the ultra-creamy cacio e pepe.

Dessert was another triumph. The crème brûlée was to die for – silky, fragrant, with that perfect glassy top that shatters just right.

Every plate was stunningly presented, every bite memorable. Chef Kevin Llali has created something truly special at Opaline, and it shows in the passion, craft, and artistry of each dish.

If you haven’t been – go. This is a dining experience you won’t forget.

Ps. The cocktails were also exceptional! I unfortunately didn’t take photos of every dish because I simply couldn’t wait! But I can say, I have been back about 4x already.

The food was some of the most delicious that we had while in the D.C. area. The pasta was homemade and could not have been more perfect. The steak tartare is a must try appetizer, and any of the pastas are a solid entree choice. We also had the salmon and the smash burger which were very tasty as well.

Ordered Opaline for dinner (their appetizers) as room service while staying at Sofitel and all the dishes were great. Their macaron also had a great texture and unique flavors (such as watermelon). Overall a good experience.

We had a delicious meal here! The gnocchi dish in particular was a standout! Whether you are staying at the hotel, or just in the area, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The breakfast options in the morning are also great.

Amazing Place really Loved the Ambiance and Staff. We found this Place through instagram and did not disappoint!! Amazing Cocktail list with a great Variety of choices, like their amazing First Ladies Cocktail Menu. Our Server Dennis made everything easy for us and guided us through all the menus. Will be back for my Birthday again for sure!!!

We made a reservation for a birthday, and I guess I always expect that the service would reflect that. I was at least expecting to hear a “Happy Birthday”, but we didn’t. Also service was kind of slow. The best part of the food was the crème brûlée! The pasta was good, but not blow my socks off. I would say vegetarian options were not that great. Only one pasta available and the rest of veggie options were a small amount of sides/apps.

We ordered steak frites and this was probably the most mediocre steak I’ve ever eaten. Poorly seasoned and not medium rare. Lukewarm and rare at best. Had them warm up the steak and it was still meh. Cocktails were good but pricey. Fries were amazing and crème brûlée was awesome as well. Overall kind of disappointed .

Afternoon tea selection was great, short of excellent. Nice space, not loud and not rushed. Service was excellent. The open faced sandwiches included egg salad, cucumber and tomato – these were the best part. The sweets were not as interesting or enjoyable – they were cherry themed due to the season and a bit bland and boring. Because we were there for a bachelorette, they brought champagne, which was a nice touch. Small but varied selection of tea (tends to be over brewed but tea leaves are removable from pot). Staff was absolutely helpful and attentive.
