Great little (tiny) diner with a lot of history in the center of East Syracuse. Feels very authentic. Service was great and the food was delicious. Spanish home fries are a definite must. There was a wait but considering how busy and small it was it wasn’t terrible and well worth it.

I have been to so many diners in my travels and I can honestly say this one is by far in the top 3. Probably the best corned beef hash I’ve ever had and the cinnamon raisin toast is a huge leg up on other diners. Highly recommend this place. It’s a hole in the wall but a powerhouse kitchen.

Food was good and the people were very nice. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the grill vents. I used to work in food services and cleaning those things is something you can’t cheat.

Love this little diner with huge heart! Best biscuits and gravy in town, and the portions are perfect and fairly priced — and when you sit at the bar you get “breakfast and a show” watching the owner/chef show you how short – order cooking is done on the open flat-top. An old school diner experience done right …. AND they’ve got AC now so lunch on a hot day in East Syracuse will be at the Redwood! Get the biscuits and gravy you will not be disappointed.

The redwood diner is a favorite. Family run, classic 1950s diner, with no frills decor – red bar stools, checkered floors- takes you back in time to its roots. Don’t let its understated looks fool you – the food is excellent, and at a good price. Fresh ingredient diner food without all the grease hiding the flavor like you might get from a lot of places. I recommend the chopped cheese omelet with Spanish home fries if you’re feeling a little something different, it’s like a cheeseburger for breakfast. Lots of omelets to choose from though – there’s one for everyone. If you’re looking for sweet, the French toast or blueberry pancakes won’t disappoint. If you haven’t been I suggest you stop in!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Absolute Gem — The Redwood Diner Delivers Perfection!

If you’re even thinking about stopping at the Redwood Diner, do yourself a favor and go — immediately. From the moment I walked in, the service was outstanding: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit.

Now let’s talk about the food — because wow. The eggs were clearly fresh, cooked exactly how I ordered them, rich and flavorful in a way you just don’t get everywhere anymore. The pancakes were a dream: fluffy, golden, and perfectly balanced — not too heavy, not too sweet, just pure comfort on a plate. And the home fries? Absolute perfection. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, seasoned just right, and impossible to stop eating.

Honestly, it was one of those meals where everything hits. No weak links, no afterthoughts — just classic diner food done exceptionally well. Portions were generous, the quality was top-notch, and somehow it was all incredibly affordable. You leave feeling satisfied, happy, and wondering how they manage to deliver that level of quality at such a great price.

The Redwood Diner is the kind of place that reminds you why diners are special — honest food, friendly service, and unbeatable value. I would recommend this spot to anyone reading this without hesitation. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is a must-stop destination. I’ll absolutely be back — and soon. ✨

First diner I went to that doesn’t larp the classic atmosphere. Pancakes real thick and they put butter on all the pancakes instead of just on the top. Service was great too

We were in town for a conference and stumbled upon this gem as we were checking out the area. What an awesome atmosphere of and old time diner. We sat at the counter watching the cook knocking out 6-8 orders at a time with ease. The staff was friendly, an atmosphere where the customers all seemed like regulars, and the food portions were huge and delicious. Very glad we stopped!

The French toast was really tasty, and the eggs Benedict were overcooked but they were okay. However, I didn’t like the fries. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are really kind.
