OMG! Carnitas like you wouldn’t believe, often deep fried in its own juices right in front of you. PLUS… 3-4 different types of chicharron. Chicharron de Lonja! So freakin’ good. Get it by the pound to take home with the freshly made street tortillas right behind you in one direction, and freshly made guacamole (3 spice levels!) in the other direction. Salsas? 3-4 acres of options. Want it right now? Have it there with rice and beans (con manteca?), in nachos, tacos… maybe tortas? I can’t remember. Lots of seating all around. Just go get the pig!

Our first experience in the market and this place seemed to be pretty popping and their chicharrones options looked great. Ultimately they were pretty fine, not really as fatty or flavorful as I would have liked. We grabbed guac from the stand immediately next to them which was a great addition to eat it with. The line moves fast and they pump out a lot of product seemingly throughout the day, so worth trying if you’re a chicharrones fan.

This is what Northgate was originally known for, their carnitas! We ordered the small family meal with 1 lb of carnitas, the rice, beans, salsa of choice, and fresh soft corn tortillas. I ordered a guacamole and a mulita de chicharron
Carnitas was cooked perfectly and my gosh I’m obsessed. This meal is amazing and you won’t be disappointed. We ordered it all to go and ate in on the patio. There was plenty of leftovers after 3 adults and 1 kid. As I’m typing this I’m thinking about eating those leftovers

This is a really good place for authentic Mexican Pork Carnitas, cooked to absolute perfection, I promise you, I’m not Exaggerating these truly are great carnitas.
They cooked them the old school way, in a huge copper pot, when they’re done they come out the pot with a great crust and fork tender, ready for a burrito or when it’s taco time. They offer carnitas by the pound along with menu items like tacos burrito etc. Also fresh salsa, chips and real Coke in the bottle. A great place for lunch, dinner or just a quick snack, also check out the market items in the surrounding shopping area.
