I’ve eaten here before and liked it , so I returned. My previous experiences have been good, but this time was different. The compimentary “amuse bouche” is apparently no longer served, and the Service was less than attentive to say the least. The green curry with steak was anything but steak, with only a hint of spice, and was supposed to be their second most spicy dish according to the menu! What little beef was in the dish was almost half gristle. Next time I’m craving Thai here. I’m gonna go to my other favorite place which is a much longer walk, but i’ve never been disappointed there!

I truly have no idea what all the negative reviews are about. Yes, the portions are not American-sized and you have to order rice separately, but I just dined alone and cleared my plates. Plural. Delicious, garlicky papaya salad and a fresh well-balanced shrimp entree. The service may be a little slower than you’re used to, because they’re busy, however the staff are all very friendly and alert. I ate here twice on my trip and will return if I come back to Playa! No notes. ❤️

Solid Thai fare – not special but very tasty. The potstickers with the tray of different sauces was a stand out dish. Definitely worth trying. They put chilis on the side of your plate so you can customize spice level. Would have liked to see salad rolls on the menu.

I love this hidden street in Playa that’s full of restaurants. After a week here, I wanted to try something different from just Mexican or Argentinian food, and this place was perfect! Great location, nice menu, and the dishes were exactly what I expected — well presented and full of authentic Thai flavors. I came during happy hour, so I totally enjoyed the 2-for-1 drinks.

This restaurant offers an excellent dining experience. The main courses were truly outstanding and delicious; we had the Chicken Pad See Ew and the Vegetable Pad Thai, both of which were perfectly executed. The service was also very kind and attentive.
My only small point of feedback is regarding the Papaya Salad (Som Tum). While good, the cut of the ingredients was too coarse compared to the authentic Thai preparation, and it was missing key elements like the green beans, which kept it from being a truly authentic Thai Som Tum.
Despite this minor point, the overall quality of the main dishes and the service earns this restaurant a perfect 5-star rating. Thank you!

The food was okay, but the service was very slow. Portions were extremely small. We ordered spring rolls, chicken Pad Thai, another noodle dish, fried rice, and beef curry, which was decent. Unfortunately, my kids were still hungry after the meal. The atmosphere felt a bit flat — some music would really help. Overall, the food was average.”

Nice surprise to find an authentic Thai place in Playa del Carmen. Had the classic Chicken Pad Thai Noodles, they were delicious. My friend had some curry and liked it. The Tom Kha soup was also very good and tasty. Had the Sticky Rice for dessert and it was pleasantly sweet, not overdone. They also serve you complimentary vegetarian rolls. Quick and courteous service.

Authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious Thai cuisine! Having tried Thai food in various cities, I can confidently say this place stands out, likely thanks to the head chef, who hails from Thailand. The flavors are spot-on, offering an authentic taste that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Nestled in the most beautiful street of Playa del Carmen, Mae Thai not only charms with its vibrant ambiance but also with its warm and attentive staff. Every visit feels like a special experience.
Highly recommended for anyone craving an authentic Thai dining experience!

Tonight we went down thirty eight and had our meal at Mae Thai. We shared the kai satee which is chicken skewers, the peanunt sauce was delicious. I thought the meat was a bit chewy. My husband had the Pad Thai noodle dish with pork. I liked it but not the pork, (I am a picky meat eater though) he liked the pork. I found a new comfort food which I will always come back for again and again in the curry Masaman with the rice, served on the side. It was so flavorful with just the right amount of heat. Menu and prices can be found on their facebook page. Mae Thai Playa del Carmen
