I was really craving some “soul food” and Google Maps led me here. It is a cute place and very clean, which I always appreciate. The service was polite and pleasant from start to finish.
Overall, the food was good. For the mac and cheese, if you are expecting a traditional Southern style, it is not. That said, it was still enjoyable. I suggest keeping an open mind, as mac and cheese can vary and really comes down to personal taste.
I enjoyed my meal as a whole. The potato salad was good and the fish was delicious.
The cornbread had a salty crust, which was different for me, but not a deal breaker since I had two pieces. I was hungry.
I definitely plan to come back to try the sweet potato pie, which is what I originally wanted. So yes, I will be returning. To me, this is a nice kickback spot with good food and a welcoming feel.

The food was delicious! I have to have gluten and dairy free food, so I tried the salmon, sweet potato fries and collard greens. The atmosphere was a great vibe, playing all the great music from back in the day! Service was excellent. My family enjoyed the whole experience.

American soul was a fun experience on a random Sunday. Headed over there with a few friends for brunch. Let me cavest, I am indifferent about brunch in general, but the quality of the food was worth the trip. I appreciated the DJ element to a degree. Sometimes brunch, DJs can be really distracting, but this one seemed to work and complement the experience.
With some fresh jams in the background, we got to dig into a variety of breakfast and lunch options. I opted for the shrimp and grits my husband got the chicken and waffles And everything was really fresh. The cocktails were a little sweet but definitely did the job. For those who love a bottom was brunch. This is definitely a place to consider.

My first experience was enjoyable. The staff gave a we are cool, and we are glad you’re here vibe. Polite, inviting, caring, and extremely professional. The food was really good! The Fried Catfish, Posted Vegetables and Candied Yams, were comfort food heaven!

Our first time going and wasn’t disappointed. I ordered fried green tomatoes and creamy crab corn chowder as my appetizer, which was amazing. Our entree was a shrimp basket that includes thinly sliced French fries and coleslaw. My husbands was a southern fried chicken sandwich that included thinly sliced French fries with a side of a Hubbard punch drink and the beer (not on their menu). Very delicious and very clean. We will be going back.
Hot note: please be kind and patient with the waitress and bartender. The man behind me was a little rude and wasn’t even there for 10 minutes. Anyways, we will be back!!

We had a late lunch/early bird dinner at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. Between the four of us, we got wings, crab and corn chowder, fried chicken, chicken and waffles, lobster Mac and cheese, and a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Plus the most buttery corn bread. Friendly staff, but most importantly, incredible food. Everything was so tasty, even my salad, which I felt weird ordering (because who goes to a place like this and gets a salad?!). I will definitely visit again if I’m back in the area. Worth a drive!

The atmosphere definitely gives off soul when you walk in. Neo soul and R&B on the speakers when you walk in. It was very clean in the eating area when you walked in, which is a huge plus. The cornbread was amazing, so soft and the butter complimented the taste.
The fried shrimp had the perfect breading and the sauce to accompany it. The fried chicken was also cooked to perfection, and the Mac n cheese was delicious. The waffle had the right amount of softness and crunch, a really good eat.
I also want to shout out the middle aged waitress. It was quite busy and she was handling the front of the house with ease. And she was really nice and hospitable. She was a rock star and deserves her props.
I am definitely coming back for the brunch experience. Truly a fantastic place to enjoy soul food!
