This is a pure vegetarian only spot that flies a bit under the radar. Not sure why

The menu is massive: classic South Indian dosas (crispy, massive, with killer sambar and chutneys), bunch of different thalis, AND Indo-Chinese dishes

The chai is actually good. Served hot in those little steel cups the traditional way

Portions are HUGE. Prices are VERY reasonable. Food quality is high. Consistently

Hope more people discover this gem

This is our favorite spot for a late breakfast/brunch on the weekends. Order a couple of dosas or idlis and filter coffee. If you are still hungry, a fried rice and gobi Manchurian to share. Or some of their fritters. We love their outside patio and can easily spend an hour or two when we are here. It’s the perfect lazy weekend experience for us! Love their rose milk and badam milk too.
Oh and I got to say this, I especially love their sambhar. I haven’t noticed any veggies except for pearl onion, yet it is very finger licking good! Better than my homemade version with all the vegetables. This might be my favorite sambhar at a restaurant actually. Maybe ever! They have gotten the sambhar powder/masala perfectly.

Request to owner – If it’s your own creation, please consider selling the sambhar powder. I would love to try and recreate the same flavours at home. Thank you!

If you want to taste authentic South Indian cuisine, this is the place to eat! The food here is delicious and the portions are generous! This is the best South Indian food in California! I have eaten in The Bhimas Restaurant in Tirupati, India about 35 years ago. This is just as delicious as in India itself and right here in Artesia! I strongly recommend eating in this restaurant for the authentic experience! The service is excellent and the atmosphere is beautiful, especially to see Sri Lord Venkateswara, known belovedly as Sri Balaji!

Fantastic authentic Andhra food! We had the spicy thali and kara paniyaram. The flavors were on point and well balanced – not too spicy to handle. We also got the traditional pappu podi and gongura containers on request. The service was exceptional as well- staff answered our questions patiently! Definitely will be coming back again when we’re in Artesia.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, both in terms of service and food safety. This review is a serious warning.

On Saturday, Jan 31 around 6:00 PM, I experienced shockingly rude and unprofessional behavior at Bhimas. The person taking orders was dismissive, arrogant, and openly hostile. He took an excessive amount of time to take our order, and when we paused for a few seconds to decide, he rudely said, “Take your time and call again,” as if customers are an inconvenience.

Now to the most alarming part: the food was spoiled.
The sambar served with my sambar idly had a strong, unpleasant odor and was clearly not fresh. I did not eat it. When I reached home about two hours later, the smell had become even more unbearable, confirming that old, spoiled food was knowingly served.

This is not just bad service — this is dangerous and unacceptable. Serving spoiled food is a serious health violation and shows complete disregard for customer safety. Restaurants are trusted to follow basic hygiene and quality standards, and this place failed miserably.

I did not argue or create a scene, but customers should not have to tolerate rudeness or risk getting sick from contaminated food. Management and ownership must take immediate action: retrain or replace staff, review food handling practices, and ensure expired food is never served again.

Until this is addressed, I strongly do not recommend Bhimas to anyone. Customer safety and respect are clearly not a priority here.

Amazing South Indian food! The flavors were authentic and perfectly balanced. The dosas were crispy, the sambhar was rich and comforting, and the chutneys were fresh and flavorful. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and clean.
