Visiting Build the Pho was such a fun and tasty experience! We got to enjoy some amazing pho while chatting and laughing together, making it a perfect moment to bond as a group after a busy day of volunteering and exploring the city.

Never will I order from this place again!!! Ordered the beef rib pho and they purposely shaved majority of the meat off the bone and served us this at full price. You can see where they cut the meat off. We spent $80 here for this!!! I am infuriated!!! I have eaten in side this establishment and ordered the same thing and got all the meat on the bone. This is unfair to pay the exact same price and have this done to us!! Please never eat here!! This is unethical! The tiny bit of meat that was left on the bone was dry and flavorless!

If you’ve ever had homemade or small-business Vietnamese food, this place might not be for you. You’ll probably find yourself expecting more from the flavors. On the other hand, if you haven’t had much authentic Vietnamese food before, you might really enjoy it. Unfortunately, I fall into the first group.

We tried a few different dishes along with two drinks. The presentation of the food and interior of the restaurant were nice modern and clean. However, the food felt like an imitation of traditional Vietnamese cuisine, missing authentic flavors. It was kind of like someone copying your homework but changing a few answers to make it look different.

The grilled pork and rice dish was especially underwhelming. The “grilled” pork didn’t taste grilled at all — it was more mushy than tender — and the portion of rice was surprisingly small, just a tiny triangle, which felt odd considering how inexpensive rice is.

They were out of the crispy chicken appetizer, so we opted for the shrimp appetizer instead (which, oddly enough, was the last thing to come out). That would be understandable on opening day, but the restaurant didn’t even seem that busy — even with everything being half off.

The drinks were probably the highlight. The strawberry sparkling drink was refreshing, and the tropical smoothie was decent, though I’m not sure why they added boba — it didn’t really work with the texture and flavor of a smoothie.
Another thing that i found strange was that 89% of the prices on the menu where VISIBLY marketed up with stickers (in which you could see the original price under). Which left a bad taste in my mouth with this being a new location. It would have been better to just do a QR code in the meantime and get new menus. So that new customers wouldn’t notice.
All this to say that if you are in the area and you can’t make it to asia town (where you would find better prices and quality) and you didn’t want any other the other restaurants around and you hadn’t had Vietnamese food before, try it.

My partner and I came today for the opening. We had the HK-Style Iced Lemon Tea, the Caramelized Biscuit Coconut Latte with Cream Foam, the Basil Popcorn Chicken, the Grilled Pork Bánh Mì (4 Inches), and the House Special Pho. Everything was absolutely delicious, but especially the Pork Bánh Mì! They were not currently able to serve the Pork Belly Steam Buns, or any Desserts. We will definitely be back for more!

My dad and I stopped in here for lunch today and had a very nice meal! Prices were decent, portions were good, the decor was lovely, and staff was attentive. My dad and I got the build your own pho, his with rare beef and mine with beef brisket, and I got a half portion of the pork banh mi, and it was all very delicious. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Perfect for a chilly autumn night in! We shared the house special pho, with basil friend chicken and tofu spring rolls as appetizers. The pho broth was well-spiced and the beef was nice and tender. Apps were great too!

New pho restaurant in Ohio City. The pho was good, but the bun with the pork chop (cold noodle dish) was AMAZING! Fresh vegetables, great sauce. The Vietnamese spring rolls are classic & perfectly crispy. Great add to the neighborhood!

Adorable new Asian spot just steps from all the fun in Ohio City! The atmosphere is great, and service even better. Appetizers were delicious, but the pho left a bit to be desired. Unfortunate, as that’s the namesake. Perhaps better as an introductory pho stop for those who don’t frequent hole-in-the-wall spots where you can see grandma cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Nonetheless, overall a great and exciting new addition to Ohio City!
