Welcome to The Dead Fish Restaurant,
A casual, comfortable restaurant overlooking the Carquinez Straits in Crockett, California. Find us easily on a near me search. The mouth-watering menu at The Dead Fish features great seafood and much more with headings like Recently Demised Fish of the Day, and Dead or Alive after a humorous spin on the story behind the restaurant’s moniker: The Chef’s beloved Nonna cooked for a big family and didn’t have time to track all of the different recipes she prepared, so when her grandson asked what kind of fish she cooked, she replied, It’s a dead fish!
Quirky decor & Carquinez Straights views are both eye-catchers at this seafood spot.

We went to the dead fish on my birthday which was a Saturday. We did have reservations and was seated immediately. The place was packed packed and busy. It took a minute to get service and she was really nice. However, she passed us several times without asking us how we were doing. The bus boy was more at our table than her. The man who looks like the manager just came by our table and said are you done with this and then took the items and went off without even saying hello. We sat in a small booth in the middle aisle and the guy next to us was saying so many expletives. It was very annoying. The special thing was that we did get a birthday dessert which was delicious! The only other thing that sucked was the parking it was packed so we had to walk down to the corner to the light and park in the parking lot on the opposite side of the restaurant. It was cold but we were prepared for it. Probably won’t go back again unless it’s a real special occasion. But again, the food was fantastic!

Been meaning to eat here for years heard so many good things about this place. They were all true we decided to eat on the back outside dining area yes they had heat. So cozy with an amazing view Even got the candle light special which they do for special occasions . Prime rib was amazing and red snapper was too. Presentation of the snapper well was best I’ve ever seen. Service was amazing as well. So worth the wait over 10 years however next time I’m not waiting so long to return I drove out from San Jose. If you’re anywhere in the Bay Area you must try this place !!

Ive been here a few times now. The view is outstanding on a sunny day. Today I ate at the bar. The bartender was friendly and made some great looking martini’s. I tried the beet salad and shrimp/chips. Very large portions. Beet salad was fresh and vibrant, and huge. Not a cheap lunch but it was a memorable one.

Great restaurant, delicious food, adorablely decorated for the holidays. We had reservations on Christmas Eve for a party of seven but unfortunately the table reserved for us had guests that didn’t want to leave. We waited well over an hour to be seated. The employees were very sympathetic however and served us a complementary appetizer.

The Dead Fish delivers an exceptional dining experience. Their crab is outstanding — fresh, perfectly seasoned, and truly memorable. The steak was equally impressive, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. While prices are on the higher side, the generous portions, attentive service, and overall quality make it a worthwhile indulgence. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great seafood and steak.

We visited the Dead Fish for my partners fathers 70th birthday and the place was packed! Even though they were incredibly busy, our server Erin was exceptionally attentive and delightful the entire evening. The mussels were a *tiny* bit overdone (I can hardly blame the kitchen staff though, the entire Bay Area was wildly busy today), but still delicious and we ate every single one. Thank you for the charming atmosphere!

The place is not clean enough — I would rate cleanliness 3 out of 5. It was very crowded. The food tasted okay, nothing special. Prices are quite high: we paid $220 for three dishes, which does not match the quality.

My husband and I went to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our waiter, Lak, went above and beyond to make our evening special. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. He made excellent recommendations, ensured everything came out perfectly, and checked on us just the right amount. And he moved us to a table with a beautiful view!
It’s rare to come across service that feels both personal and polished, but Lak made us feel celebrated and well cared for. Thank you for helping make our anniversary dinner such a memorable one — we’ll definitely be coming back!

Very tasty fresh seafood. The grilled plates were really delicious. We had the shrimp and half crab and also soft shell crab sandwich.

Well shoot, after twelve years some things change for the worse. We revisited for our anniversary dinner 12yrs to the day and the only thing that was the same was the atmosphere. Our waitress was brisk, but the other wait staff were nice. I got the salmon with a lemon caper sauce, vegetables on the side paired with a white wine. My salmon was over cooked, the veggies consisted of potatoes and cauliflower (an odd pairing) the potatoes were so dry and overcooked I left them on the plate, the cauliflower was undercooked so it also got left. The lemon caper sauce you ask? Did it redeem the overcooked salmon? Nope. The only way I knew there was a sauce on the fish was by the three capers that were rolling around on the hot skillet plate my order got served on. Thank goodness for the bread basket or I would have left hungry. Were they busy you ask? Maybe that would excuse the lack of attention to everything? Nope. It was about 6:45pm on a warm Tuesday evening. The waitstaff was attentive where the waitress lacked so at least we had our drinks refreshed even asking if I was cold and would like the heater turned on. It was a balmy 73• and as I am acclimated to the brisk Eurekan coastal temps, it felt like a warm summer evening. We dined (I use that term lightly) on the patio and the view was lovely. All I can say is do better kitchen. A lot of time has passed but with a location like that you should be 5 star dining.
