This place really missed the mark. The food was highly overpriced for the quality, and the service was just plain bad — inattentive and unprofessional. Honestly, the only good thing about the restaurant is that it works if you just want a spot to drink and party. If you’re going for a proper meal and good service, this is not the place.
Only reason is a 3 and not a 2 is because place is very nice, clean, and with a nice decor and live music amazing.

The experience was disappointing, I made a reservation for Sunday’s brunch a couple of weeks ago to celebrate my husband’s and daughter’s birthday, I reserved for 25 people and when I got there they had the tables set up, and they allowed me to decorate an area with balloons, my waitress was very collaborative and helped me set up.
The place was pretty much empty, and only 2 more tables had customers, so when I requested to add another table because I had extra people, they were a little difficult because it was going to blocked an area……go figure. I also asked if I can use another table to put the gifts, she told me no, because those were for customers…. which customers???, the place was empty, so I had to put them in a chair; I had a little box with the decorations that I put to the side of the bar(also empty) but she asked me if I can take it to the car because the box can’t stay there.
I ordered 7 plates of appetizers for my guests and buckets of beers, they had a good flavor, but when they ordered food from the regular menu most of my guests said it need it more seasoning and salt, including a ceviche my husband ordered; I also ordered a jalea and then I wanted to other 2 more for the table and she told me they ran out!! The placed opens at 12 pm, it was only 2:00pm, the place is empty how they ran out after 2 hours….. doesn’t make any sense.
I brought my own cake, but my waitress told me she could give me paper napkins toserve the cake, I guess they couldn’t gave me little plates, I said no thank you!!
Finally the last nail in the coffin was when my sister asked for a glass of water and the waitress told her that only the first glass was FREE after that they only sell bottles of water, freaking insane.
I spent almost a $1000, not including what my guests paid and they couldn’t served tap water, I understand now why the placed was empty.
I would never go back.

Awful !! Took forever for them to bring our table of two our food; when there was only one other table of guests at the time. The tostones were acceptable, but the Lumo Saltado was not. The flavor was OK, but having had this dish all over South Florida many times over Left this one being mediocre. For $29 you generally get better quality and more quantity of meat. Instead, they loaded up with peppers. The music was louder than most nightclubs at midday. To make matters worse, upon requesting the check from Ariel, the waiter we were disappointed even further. He brought his handheld machine, With it set to where, I could choose how much tip to give. Note that 20% had already been selected. When asked to see the itemized check I noticed a 20% “ Service Charge” Had already been included. When questioned Ariel had a very well rehearsed shady speech about how that service charge is split amongst restaurant staff. So yes, They are total scammers trying To screw customers for 40% worth of tip.

Music was ok, however the server was absolutely rude. She said she doesn’t care what the hostess said in the entrance about the cover and she could maybe bring the complimentary drinks after we ate.
We asked for the bill, she didn’t want to show the items charged. Literally took my card from my hand violently and charged and said you should not had a table because we didn’t drank or ate too much.
Service is definitely not a skill of her.

I have been debating on how to rate this location for the last two weeks. Let’s be clear, this is NOT a restaurant, it is a location to dance and celebrate that serves food on the side.
We were celebrating my wive’s birthday and I arrived a little late. When I got to the door, there were two man, and a woman talking and not paying attention to the door. As I was going in, one of the man, who is about 6’8” tried to stop me by stretching his arm and and asked me to come out. I thought to myself, “a bouncer at a restaurant?” I became annoyed and I told him I am with the large party celebrating my wive’s birthday.
Unlike a similar establishment “A love
Story” on Miller Road, the food at La Mesa Kendall, was really good and our server was extremely patient dealing with a party of over twenty people. The whole time she was courteous and smiling and was fantastic with her service.
We had a good time dancing and with the live band but is this place a restaurant, no it is not!

Let start with the pros. Gorgeous decor. Nice open spaces, comfy seats servers that tried their best under circumstances. Food was ok. Nothing out of normal. Plates were reasonable. Nice atmosphere. Cons: overly loud club music at 12 pm is a bit much. When you can not hear the person next to you it’s a might much. Great for after 7 pm but not at 12 pm. We wére a large group. 22 of us for a birthday celebration. 1 server. Later we found out some servers call out but then again the Manager should had step in and hustle instead of hiding in the kitchen or on the phone. Brunch menu only choice. Prices crazy expensive. Cuban sandwich $15.00. server tells us on Sunday only bottled water available, no tap however you saw the bartenders drinking tap water all day thru. Bounder on site, for what. At 12 pm it’s not a club is a restaurant. Food was ok except when they forgot my friend egg omelette and then the manager had the odicity to say it would take 40 extra minutes to scrabble an egg. There were no condiments, servers did not come around to see if you needed anything, I had to get up twice to go get ice from the bar. And the view of the women bathroom from my table kept on being. Wide open for all to see. There sign “ya tu sabes” , says it all. Managers need to be trained in how to deal with guests. Or this one should not take the day shift ever again. The place was packed. A few large parties. But the staff looked annoyed and that is not pleasant to see. I truly give this place maybe 3 good years, if they make it to 5 I will be shocked. It’s trendy. But in Miami that is not enough.

I had a lunch here with my family, prices for lunch specials were VERY reasonable, main course with two sides, soup and dessert for less than $14 is great! That said the service was correct and the atmosphere a very nice place to visit, specialy for those that dream with a prosperous Havana like in the 50s.
