New Jersey has some of the best burger & dog stands and drive-ins in the country. You have nationally acclaimed landmarks like Rutt’s Hut, Hiram’s, Hot Dog Johnny’s, The Windmill, Jimmy Buff’s, and White Manna, along with less nationally famous, but equally great and locally beloved institutions like the Hot Grill, Johnny & Hanges, Texas Weiner I, Steve’s Burgers, Hanks Franks, White Rose Hamburgers, and the Galloping Hill Inn. Morris County, which is where I live now, is home to several spots that deserve similar recognition. The After Charbroil, Davy’s Hotdogs, Rocco’s, J&M Grill, The Dover Grill (which of course is the subject of this review) and Andy’s Roadside Dive (if they reopen) are all amazing. The Dover Grill’s atmosphere is retro Americana and would fit in on any Hollywood 20th century era film set. The food is obviously excellent, featuring grilled Sabbrett all beef and deep fried Sabbrett-WindMill beef & pork blend hot dogs, along with fresh & never frozen smash-burgers on seeded Martin’s potato rolls, as well as a very good cheesesteak among other things. Their chili is really good, similar in texture to the renowned Hot Grill’s chili but with a more traditional flavor instead of the Hot Grill’s almost curry-like taste, and it obviously goes great on their burgers and dogs. Don’t forget to go get ice cream afterwards at Dover Dairy Made, their sister business attached next door.

Grill serves very good food at reasonable prices and is a local gem. Also nest to Dover Dairy Maid which is a great combo for eating from the grill hen getting dessert after. Parking is difficult at times however. It’s street parking with a lot across the street which normally fills fast. Not open year round but is only closed a few months each year (December – February) Overall really good experience. Will be returning

I can’t provide information on the burgers , l always get the Dogs and Fries, and they are both Outstanding. I believe the Dover Grill is definitely in the top 10 hot dog stands in New Jersey.

Latest visit was to Dover Grill which based on its name is in fact located in Dover on Route 46. Can honestly say I’ve passed this spot countless number of times and have never bothered stopping in until recently.
With a good choice of dogs to order from, picking was not easy but ended up ordering a chili dog with onions and a hot onion dog with a small side of fries. Came in after the typical lunch rush and was able to grab a stool inside. While some reviewers may say the place is dated, I will say the place is nostalgic and made for a great lunch atmosphere. The Hot dogs were tasty and the krinkle cut fries were served hot.
Bummed that I’ve passed by so many times and never bothered stopping in. Will definitely add them to the rotation. Was prompted to stop in prior to them closing for the season. The good news is they are open for another month and close up on November 23 and will reopen in March 2024..

I ordered 2 dogs and fries for 11$. Great value and even better hot dogs and fries. Hot dogs had a nice snap to them and you can tell the oil the fries were cooked in was changed regularly.
Staff very friendly and one of the cleanest establishments I ever ever been to.
I highly recommend giving them a try.

A jersey icon…best cheesesteak this side of philly. Couldnt finish the so called small fries..it was a lot of delicious goodness. Top it off with a fountain soda and the order was up in like 4 minutes. Well done!!

It wasn’t that great. Was a huge disappointment because of the almost 5 star rating. It reminded me of White Castle. Not good. All of the soda varieties were all out all that was available was Pepsi. There is no bathroom to wash your hands…. And if there was it well hidden. The food was greasy and mediocre.

We went here based on a friend’s recommendation. We wanted to go to Ruts Hut, bit didn’t think we would make it before they closed. We got the jumbo hot dog. Actually, we got 2 each. We should have stopped at 1 because it hurt our stomachs to finish it. The hot dogs themselves are BIG, but the chili and cheese are unassuming. Everything was so good. I’d love to go back. It’s good to know this place is CASH ONLY.

I consider my self a “Cheesteak-Connoisseur”! I <3 their Cheesesteaks! I frequent this place, more than I like to mention! Sandwiches are AMAZING... Great Size, Great Meat, Great TASTE!! I've hit almost every "top" Cheesesteak place in Philly and Tri-State Area! by-far/hands-down, 1 of my very favorites! Sadly not open all year around... and only "Ca$h" (no Credit Cards)... You will not Go Wrong to visit this place, very clean, friendly staff, plenty of parking (Private-Lot; across the street) You can even eat "al-fresco" (dinning tables w/ umbrellas right outside; Give it try! ENJOY!
