This place has everything from good food, good atmosphere to plenty of parking. The hot dogs are amazing and the home made mustard and relish on them were a must. I never tried a “ripper” before but it was good, still had a nice snap. I was expecting it to be a lot crispier but it was still satisfying. I got three with toppings and it was pretty filling. I had to try the fries with gravy, also recommend. Everything came out hot and fresh. You can eat there or in your car, the inside is standing only.

Hot dog was good, and the relish on top added a nice flavor enhancement. Nothing really mind blowing about it though, and at $4 for a plain dog, I thought that is quite expensive. The chili is def worth the money, which you should try. Venue is good size where you go up and order. Service was friendly and kind. Seems like a lot of drivers like to go here as their pit stop.

Finally made it to the rutt hutt which is considered one of the best hotdogs places in New Jersey and it’s been around since 1928. I wasn’t impressed to that level it’s more like a dirty water dog from a hotdog vendor in Manhattan. But it was good but Nathans in Coney Island Brooklyn and boulevard drinks in Jersey City are still my favorite overall. The service is walk up and order and they are cash only which isn’t a bad thing. Overall it’s a great place and visit because it’s been there so long and it’s historic

If you’re coming here with Michelin-level expectations, this isn’t the place for you. What I truly value about this spot is its independence and originality.
It’s less about fine dining and more about the warmth of childhood memories—nostalgic decor, friendly faces, fair prices, and of course, a really great hot dog.
I’m not usually a fan of chili dishes, but you have to try their in-house chili paired with a ripper hot dog. It’s a magic combo. I generally eat healthy, but when I’m here, I let myself be a kid again—right down to the cold root beer.

You can go to the short service quick eats part or the sit down. Sit down has that old school traditional “been around forever” feel. Pleasant servers and bartenders. The staple Ripper hotdogs is a must and a tasteful burger (add ons extra. Good beer on tap and bar.

First time having a fried dog. I got the cheese and a chili dog. They were both really good. Definitely recommend.

I just love the nostalgia of this place. Hot dogs are great, so are the prices. Tonight I tried something different, just to see hey maybe it’s good. I had the duck, wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t get it again. Dry in most of the parts and not a lot of meat, more bones than anything. Looked amazing though, the presentation was good. Came with a side of mashed potatoes that was delicious and definitely made in house. But next time I’m sticking to the hot dogs and onion rings.

Stellar service and prices for an amazing meal. Rippers and topics were all top notch. Crispy skin, simple chili and tastey relish make an amazing combination.

We sat in the bar area. No frills but our server was sweet and sat us at a bigger table so we could have some more space to spread out.
I got a plain ripper and added the relish and mustard, amazing. I then went for a weller with their cooked onions, amazing but I preferred the plain with relish and mustard so I got another weller. I also got onion rings which were perfectly crispy and fries which were crispy and fluffy inside. The only thing I didn’t like was the pork sandwich with gravy. It tasted one note and kinda bland. I put the relish on it but it didn’t save it all too much.
The rice pudding was homey and comforting
Everything else was outstanding!! Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area

Very cool place with lots of history to it. There are two sections. One for a quick bite to eat and one for more of a sit down service. We chose to sit in as it was our first time there. Waitress was super kind and helped explain a lot to us. Hot dogs were good. I wouldn’t say this was the best hot dog in NJ or worth taking a long drive for. It was average. Pricing was good. Onion rings and fries were good too. Lots to pick from on their menu. I wasn’t overly impressed but appreciate how well known and historical it is
