I recently tried Jay’s Taste of India food truck in Guerneville and honestly it’s one of the best additions to our small community. The food is absolutely delicious and full of authentic Indian flavors. You can really tell everything is made with fresh ingredients.

What makes this place even better is how friendly Jay and his team are. They make you feel welcome the moment you walk up to the truck. It’s refreshing to see a local food truck serving food that honestly tastes even better than some of the big Indian restaurants I’ve tried.

If you’re in Guerneville and craving great Indian food, you definitely have to check them out. Jay’s Taste of India is bringing something special to our town!

The last thing I thought I’d find in Guerneville is great Indian food from a food truck. We were looking for a place for casual dinner and there are few options in this downtown area: Mexican food, a few bars and a few upscale American places. We usually prefer ethnic options and gave this place a chance. I am so glad we did. The food is excellent, at least as good as the mid level places in San Francisco. The mango lassi is not too heavy or sweet. The chai is a spiced and strong. The lamb curry and paneer saag were delicious. The service is friendly and personal. Please give this place a try especially if you’re a fan of Indian food.

I’m a first-generation American. My father came to this country from Agra, India–the city famous for the Taj Mahal–in the 1960s, and he missed proper Indian food so much. It was pretty hard to find authentic cuisine here back then. When we did go to an Indian restaurant, my dad would point out what was missing in each dish. Once, in a restaurant in New York City, he absolutely mortified my sister and me by calling the entire restaurant staff together around the table so he could explain to them how to properly prepare masala chai, as he felt theirs was not up to snuff. Dad had some standards.

When we traveled back to see our family in Agra, my aunts would fly around the kitchen in their bright saris, turning out countless dishes remarkable for their depth and balance of flavor. Dad would eat so happily at their table, finally starting to relax back into the feeling of home.

Jay’s Taste of India is, well, a real taste of India. It captures the rich and nuanced flavor in my aunties’ dishes. I have had the chicken curry, the lamb biryani, samosas (such perfect flaky pastry!) and the gulab jamun, which Jay provided with warming instructions. Everything has exceeded expectations! And the portions are LARGE. I shared mine and made my coworkers really happy!

Jay and everyone at the truck are kind, hospitable and provide really excellent ordering guidance. We are awfully lucky to have this truck in Sonoma County!

I’ve heard they cater, too–glad to know this for future events. ❤️

My dad passed away years ago, but if he were still here, I would be so excited to bring him to meet Jay. Did I mention the masala chai is perfect? I’m sure Dad would have approved.

Samosas and service were good but everything else was forgettable. Tikka masala had 6 tiny pieces of chicken. Sauce was bland and watery. Vegetables taste like they’re from frozen aisle of the grocery store. Rice is plain white rice, not basmati. Totally not worth the high price.

Did I really want to eat at a food truck on a dirt lot behind a chevron? Yes. I can’t claim to be knowledgeable in Indian food. I’ve only been to the occasional casual Indian restaurants in Santa Rosa but Jays is different in the best way. His food seems legitimately like a taste of India. I’ve had the honor of talking to him and he’s shown me some of the spices he’s brought in from India and even the rice has these floral/herby bits that are so full of flavor. It’s wholesome food, both of the guys working there and great and kind people, don’t let the ambiance deter you this place is great.

We are so excited to have amazing Indian food in the Russian River area! I got to meet Jay yesterday and have some delicious chicken tikka and mango lassi. Next time going to try the biryani. Please keep in mind the city has some construction going on so if you’re driving, you can access Jay’s through the gas station on the other side of the street from Safeways. Give him a visit!

My husband and I stopped by Jay’s on our way back to Bodega Bay! The samosas, chicken saag meal, and mango lassi were absolutely delicious. It was a hot day so the mango lassi was very refreshing!

Jay was so friendly and helpful! We look forward to stopping by next time we’re in town.

My only recommendation would be for them to offer other payment options besides cash.

Cash and card accepted. A true gift to the food scene on the river, this truck is easily the best Indian food I’ve had in the county. Worth a stop whenever passing through.
