Amazing upgrade! I’m a lifelong customer. The seafood is amazingly fresh and delicious! The service and view is awesome! Free parking is major plus! I was happy to see my server, Patty!
Thanks! 5 stars overall!

The old Marina, Variety Store, now Fin and crab Has undergone some very nice cosmetic changes to the inside. While, we all hate change It’s part of life and once you become 59 you just have to learn to accept it. The cosmetic changes are very nice. The bar is much more comfortable to sit at and the whole sprucing up thing is a big improvement. I have been eating breakfast here for over 35 years, but hardly would ever go in for dinner Because of the lack of Ambience and it primarily having that diner feeling. I would definitely come and check it out for dinner now most of the same crew is still working our beloved Dawn, Patty and Alie . My breakfast was absolutely delicious as usual. The grits were no different today than the last time. I ate them there or 20 years ago. Most of the breakfast menu remains the same. Regardless of what other reviews have said about price. They are very reasonable when you consider the prices around this town. I am just very grateful that. this establishment is still here In Functioning in the capacity We have all enjoyed for so long. I look forward to many more years of dining in here with all the regular locals, tourist, and Maritime transient. It is the only place in town where you can sit down and have such a nice eclectic mix of people. Wishing them much success.

This use to be our favorite place. We ate here 3 times a week. It’s going to be hard to convince my self to come back any more. We might only come back to remember how good it used to be to be.

The new owners did a nice job making the place bright and modern.

Significant price increases for the food that’s not as good as it used to be to be. The only staff that even acknowledged us or were friendly were the 2 original servers.

Everyone that made this place special is gone.

I hope the owners know why people came here. It’s certainly not for what’s here now.

Our office stopped by for lunch to check out the remodel and we were not disappointed! The food was great and came out timely, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the view was great. The menu had a nice variety of options, and prices are about what you’d expect for waterfront dining and seafood.

The parking is paid – only $3 an hour – but they will validate! Our server let us know when she brought us the check.

This restaurant is not fully open yet but they had a soft opening. The restaurant has been renovated and is nice inside. Customers are definitely paying for it. The prices are too high for a restaurant that was once considered a dive bar. Service was mediocre. The prices are set as if they are fine dining. Food is good but again, too pricey. Unfortunately I do not see this restaurant to be the new place to go especially in this economy.

I am not a local but have been here many of times over the years when under previous management. The renovations look very nice & updated. The staff was friendly as always and attentive. We were very disappointed with the prices at how much they have increased. For the 2 eggs breakfast it is $16.95, just too much in my opinion. The plates looked beautiful but the taste was good, no longer amazing. Since today was their first day reopening, will give some grace, but will have to see if reviews improve before we would consider returning which is unfortunate as it was always a must stop place when we have visited in the past.

I’d been to the Variety Store numerous times and had read the 21 previous reviews before going down this past week. First of all, the VS was basically a diner serving great food at a pretty decent price, compared to most seafood restaurants locally. The F&C is still basically a remodeled modern diner, but their pricing is more aligned w the pricier/nicer restaurants around town. The food and the service WAS excellent (the waitress was a VS holdover; she was great). Most of the fried seafood platters still exist but are much higher priced (fried shrimp was $29). What the menu has added is pricier items (filet mignon ($39), whole flounder etc) to give diners more than just fried seafood options. We had the fried shrimp platter. The fried shrimp were plentiful and great, but what I had a problem with was “customer satisfaction.” The fried platters all “came with” coleslaw and fries (not that many fries either). I asked to sub both for fried okra and mashed potatoes. The menu showed a $2 substitution charge above the listed sides. The waitress told me she could not sub them but could add them to the order for $5.95 each. After showing her the menu $2 sub charge, she asked the manager/owner?? who said the fried platters CAME w fries/cole slaw and could not be subbed. The menu makes no mention of this ‘no sub’ stipulation. I wasn’t going to pay $41 for the meal to get the sides we wanted although we did pay for one additional side. This is the only place I’ve ever eaten locally where I’ve had to do this. Anyplace else is happy to change out your sides. Incidentally, the couple with us had the shrimp and grits w the dark gravy ($25 as I recall) and crab soup and said they were good. So, bottom line…if you like paying higher prices with no options of what your entree comes with at a diner (with a great view by the way), then this place is fine. Personally, I’ll stay w Pages Okra Grill where I can have a great variety of meals and any sides I choose to go along w my meal for $20-22. I wish this place well, but it will take locals to keep it going. It’s well off the “tourist beaten path” as evident by never having to wait, one of the reasons we loved the VS.

Have always enjoyed the Marina Variety Store, and the refurbishment has a clean, spacious feel. Most importantly it looks like a brand new kitchen, which I appreciate as a customer. Some of the pricing seems off and I hope they re-visit that. The basic breakfast shouldn’t be $17 and the Lowcountry Hash Browns shouldn’t be more expensive than the Shrimp and Grits. A few tweaks here might satisfy loyal customers. My husband’s Home Grown Benedict was delicious.
