Wife and I were in St.Joe today and saw this place. I have been craving some good Gumbo since we were in N.O. before Christmas. I got a couple of seafood gumbos to go along with some free Cake. The Gumbo is Outstanding so happy we stopped. Now I’m going to have to come back and try everything. The owner I believe was so nice and we chatted while our order was being made and such a great person! YUM made me Happy

Nestled in the charming town of St. Joseph, Nola Roux offers a delightful taste of New Orleans cuisine with a fresh, local twist. As soon as you step inside, the warm ambiance, accented with subtle jazz music, transports you to the heart of the Big Easy.
The menu is a vibrant mix of classic Cajun and Creole dishes, with standout options like the jambalaya and gumbo that are both rich and flavorful. The seafood is particularly impressive; the shrimp and grits are creamy and perfectly seasoned, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients.
For appetizers, the fried green tomatoes with remoulade are a must-try, providing a crispy and tangy start to the meal. The service is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall inviting atmosphere.
Dessert is a highlight, especially the beignets, which come dusted with powdered sugar and are best enjoyed hot.
Overall, Nola Roux captures the spirit of New Orleans while embracing local influences, making it a standout dining experience in St. Joseph. Perfect for a casual meal or a special occasion, it’s a restaurant that should be on every food lover’s radar.

Where do I start? We had the voodoo jerk chicken and a 6 inch poor boy and also a order of beignet. The poor boy gave very sloppy not a lot of shrimp and saying that I have been to New Orleans numerous about a time because my family is from New Orleans. This is not giving Po boy not for real. Now this voodoo jerk chicken the chicken gave very much precooked already cut up and then season and marinated and what I guess you call jerk sauce I’m not sure, but being that I am Jamaican. It was not giving jerk I don’t know what the hell that was . I felt like I was eating a TV dinner . And as for those beignets I have never in my life had a beignet that had layers of pastry beignets are supposed to be airy crispy. They were cold. They were stiff and they were not made like normal real New Orleans beignets I could’ve got better . beignets at Cracker Barrel Also we’re ordering them from a restaurant they should be made to order drop Fresh not just sitting on the counter. They were absolutely horrible. My daughter took one bite and put it back into the container and threw it away. The restaurant was very quiet. There was no one in there. We didn’t smell anything cooking in the air, so I’m not sure if things were already pre-cooked or whatever the situation was I just know we won’t be back anytime soon. It’s definitely not giving creole New Orleans style food at all. Wish I would’ve took a picture of those damn beignets. I was so disappointed. Definitely a waste of $44

I didn’t enjoy the food, although the restaurant gives a New Orleans vibe, feel, and atmosphere, the food was bland and had no flavor at all. It was cooked with the right ingredients but lacks seasoning and flavor. Because I went with the vegetarian option, I removed the sausage from the red beans and rice dish. If you’re expecting “flavor” you may be disappointed. I would not recommend this restaurant because of the experience that I had.

Stopped in for a quick bite and it was wonderful! Easy to order, quick service and great flavor. We had the gumbo and I would definitely come back again and try more of their menu in the future. Gumbo was authentic to the south and just what you would expect to find in Louisiana.

I ordered the Bourbon Beef, Seafood Gumbo, and Cornbread (~$20) with DoorDash. I found this place… “Meh”. Let’s break down each dish:
Seafood Gumbo:
The Seafood Gumbo is the one I liked the most from the meal! It has flavor + spices. I found it’s not fishy. Instead, it’s quite calm with the seafood taste.
Cornbread:
The cornbread tastes like… cornbread! Both have a cakey thickness & crumbly. The pieces of bread were just fine.
Bourbon Beef:
I wanted to like this… The beef was a letdown. The beef does have flavor. It just arrived cold compared to the Gumbo. Plus, the vegetables taste + look similar to vegetables from a freezer aisle.
The beef dish really hurt the overall impression of the food. If they could use different vegetables – and ensure that the meat/rice arrives hot – that would be great. It would improve service for future customers.
For now: I am less likely to re-order if I were to return in town.

Great food. Better than a burger any day. I’m not from NOLA but my wife is from the area. Our dog was named Roux (and he was the color to match). The only caveat to this place is that the outside does not do justice to the food inside. Don’t drive away before going inside and eating! You will be glad you did.

Best gumbo north of the Mason Dixon line. We had a shrimp po boy and a bowl of gumbo. It’s the best I’ve had since we lived in Baton Rouge. This place is the real deal with fair pricing.

Gem of St Joe!! Tried their Sampler which had Jambalaya, Red Beans and Royal Gumbo. This should be plenty of food for one person. Also tried their Seafood Etouffee. Everything was absolutely delicious. Would go here again and recommend it to anyone looking for comfort southern cuisine.
