Adding to the ever eclectic and celebrated food scene of Queens, comes Chef Alwyn Gudhino with his unique Cardamom Indian restaurant in Sunnyside. What makes this unique is his Portuguese Indian (Goan) cuisine offerings here. While most adolescents his age, in the former tiny Portuguese coastal state in Goa, used their spare time to enhance their football (soccer) skills in the fields, strumming a guitar on the veranda (front porch) or tiatr (theater) acting, Alwyn snooped around his Grandma’s kitchen to learn the art of Goan cooking. Cardamom Indian Cuisine is one of the finest Indian restaurant located at Sunnyside, NY. Our restaurant is best known for its outstanding Indian cuisine, excellent staff service with livery ambience. Their desserts are also underrated. You have to try their homemade pistachio ice cream and if it’s on the menu, carrot pudding.
The owner and staff are warm and friendly, so you always feel welcome and taken care of. Highly recommend this spot!
This time we got the garlic naan, chicken caldeen, cardamom mix grill, lemon and garlic shrimp, and lamb potato croquettes.
I went with a large group of people and we absolutely ravaged our dishes. All of the curries were so tasty, you can’t go wrong with any.
The chicken and lamb were both flavorful and tender. I highly recommend trying a curry with paneer, a type of cottage cheese that is just delightful.
It’s a small place so make sure to reserve if you go with a group!
It’s good, but not great. It’s only marginally better than food in Jackson Heights, such as Jackson Diner or Angel — and both of the aforementioned places are about 1/2 the cost of Cardamom.
Didn’t try the cuisine from Goa, so I would come back to try that since it’s so niche, but we got tikka masala, garlic naan, onion kulcha, chicken 65, and alcohol — the bill was almost $90 including tip.
The service is friendly, attentive, and polite.

Very good. Wish the malai kofta had more than 4 dumplings. The entrees are a little pricey ($20+ per dish) but the service was excellent. I love that you can add tofu to any curry.
The quality of the Basmati rice is awesome compare to other Indian restaurants. Lamb karai was so good and tasty.
I want to talk about the quality of the service and it was so good, the lady waiter was so concerned about us and the service was so nice. Definitely I’m gonna come back with my friends.
