By far the best fried chicken in Maryland! Crispy, juicy, and flavorful all the way through. Loved the mac n cheese. The potato salad was a little bit sweeter than I like, but still good. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be back!

If you live in Damascus, you already know.
But if you’re just passing through and craving fried chicken, Red Rooster is absolutely worth the stop. I haven’t tried their sandwiches or sides—because every time I go, I stick with what they do best: the fried chicken.

It’s fresh, never soggy, with crispy skin and juicy, flavorful meat that actually tastes like real chicken. The pieces do run a little small, but the 8-piece family meal was the same price as Popeyes—and so, so much better. No comparison on quality.

Mainly a carryout joint, but there are a few picnic tables out front under cover if you can’t wait to dig in. Red Rooster doesn’t try to be fancy—it just gets fried chicken right.

If you’re looking for fresh, homemade fried chicken, this is the place. Place your order and they cook it, so it takes about 10 minutes. And it is worth it.

My son never had their chicken and insisted on going to a chain. Nada. I overruled him. He was not impressed by the small lobby and counter. But we didn’t come here for ascetics. We came here for chicken.

Got the 8 piece meal, complete with cole slaw and fries. The slaw tastes extremely similar to how my mom made it…wow! The rolls are fresh. The fries are ok, and I would upgrade next time to home fries. Not a big deal, though.

The chicken was so different from the chain restaurants and in a good way. Sort of like grandma made. So good that my son ate 3 pieces and asked a few days later to go back for more.

Definitely recommend.

Absolutely garbage! No flavor over priced small chicken is an understatement I feel as if I was served pigeon meat it was so small the cat food BBQ is drier than a popcorn fart and flavorless. I will never again set foot in this establishment and will do my best to make sure no one else does.

We come here every so often, usually when coming back from Deep Creek or Western Maryland excursions. Big fried chicken fans we’ve found the food good. Every once in a while it’s off their game but usually spot on. Never had anything else but fried chicken so can’t speak to the rest of the menu.

Sides like coleslaw and macaroni salad are decent but probably come from one of those bulk cartons.

Chicken is usually juicy with crispy skin. The attached picture has a red tint because we were under the red awning.

Speaking of which, there are a few picnic tables around the outside. Two or three close up and several under cover few steps away. Try not to sit too close to the trash area because on a hot day it gets ripe. Many folks eat in their car or just get pure take away.

Quick, delicious, old school breakfast/lunch spot with friendly workers, good portions and fresh ingredients. I’ll be back again when I’m up that way 100%

Very poor quality fried chicken. I’ve included a picture of a chicken breast. Not crunchy, very greasy, but I’d give it two stars because the meat was tender and juicy. I also ordered coleslaw, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. Not impressed with any of them. It’s too bad a local joint can’t produce good fried chicken. I really hate to say it but if you’re in Damascus KFC is a better choice.

The chicken was just ok but the onion rings were really tasty. Best onion rings I’ve had in a while and the homemade coleslaw was delicious.
