The exterior is typical for your local neighbor hood restaurant / pub. The cafe entrance to the dining area is on the left hand side. We were there early (opens at 4), so we peaked around the corner into the bar area (front of the building), where we were greeted and seated.
The dining space seems to have been touched up and was generally comfortable. The glow of the fireplace and table top candles (not real) added to the ambiance. The exterior door could use some paint on the inside, but we were there for the food.
The menu was pretty extensive and this is where Mandy’s really stands above most. The quality of the food is really good. Portions are favorable and many of the items are “home made”. The chicken tenders are handmade in house with real chicken breast and lite breading. They have hand cut fries which are small, crispy and yummy. The chicken quesadilla was one of the best we ever had. And where else can you get a $2.75 slice of cheesecake with cherries.
The pricing is fair, service was above average and the dining experience was overall enjoyable. We will return, as Mandy’s appears to care about quality and value. Be sure to bring cash as no credit cards accepted (ATM on site).
UPDATE 1 :. Stopped in a second time, but was busy so sat in the bar, with the bonus of catching the Sabres game. Friendly service and tasty food again. Consistent. Plus they had free popcorn (yum). There are nights with specials $.50 wings etc.. Posted updated pics of bar and specials board.
UPDATE 2: Enjoyed another great meal. We like stopping here when in the area. Bathrooms could use some work, but again the food is fresh and like home cooking (or better). Casey our server was genuine and very nice. Efficient and quick. The fresh cut fries are thin and delicious. Great portion sizes.
UPDATE: We were in the area again and wanted to dine outside. We were unaware that Mandy’s has outdoor seating and a small outdoor bar too. The service was top notch, the portions are still amazing and attractively priced. Home made fingers that are the size of a fish fry lol. Fresh cut fries are tasty. And the char BBQ wings are pretty good (sauce on the sweeter side for me).
Highlight- consistent high quality simple food with a rotating special menu at more than fair pricing, easily have a drink, and meal for $20-25 with a tip.
Bar is cozy, restaurant roomy on the simple side.
My husband has been here before eating at the bar and said that it’s always been good. So maybe it was just an off night for the kitchen? Idk. But season those chicken fingers please!!
