Came for dinner and left full ✨ Ive had a fair share of southern bbq, but this was a great go-to. I got the braised chicken with sweet potato fries and Bleu cheese salad and it was sooo good with the honey butter. They have a pretty good selection of beer and drinks to pair with food, and specials that change out too. Their pork rinds were AMAZING, highly recommend for your cheat days their potato salad and Mac n cheese were also incredible, and covered in sauce which was a nice surprise! Service was pretty prompt, nothing super special to say but they were friendly and accommodating. They have another location in Cary as well. Would come again!

Had visited their other location and now this one is closer and more convenient for us. The portions are huge, so you will never leave hungry, that’s for sure. We ate here on a Monday night and they had 1/2 price drafts and a rib special, which was unexpected. They have a good amount of beers on tap and even more canned. The ribs were good, could have been a bit warmer when they came to the table. They have a few picnic tables for outdoor seating as well.

Wings are the best around, smoked and then fried. The rub is both savory and sweet. All 3 sauces are unique and just goodness. Blue cheese coleslaw is unique and really good. New item not yet on the menu, sausage egg roll is exploding with cheesy goodness. Service is good. Rotating menu of local brews are great with at least 1-2 sours all the time.

Awesome hometown southern BBQ joint. Super friendly staff, clean, with lots of local cold craft brew, both on tap and table side.

Ashlie and Chris served me at the bar. Very knowledgeable with great recommendations for both food and drink. The sweet house BBQ was perfect and the homemade smoked potato salad is one of a kind.

Available outdoor patio seating, couple TVs, convenient location and unique menu, hard to go wrong here.

Highly recommended!

The food here is excellent. The barbecue is unseasoned when you get but it is cooked perfectly. The playing leaves a little too be desired but does have a certain charm about it. The corn bread was fantastic, too.

We spent 48 bucks for what was a Mike’s player and a rib plate with Mac and cheese and a potato salad, they said they were out of chicken and any other meat had an upcharge, ok no biggie we paid it, go for extra wings, we got what look like the scraps of chicken no extra wings we paid for and the food that was to feed 4 people could only cover two. I could never recommend this place to anyone as you don’t get you money’s worth, and some of the meat tasted like fuel, this is a BBQ joint, not a five star restaurant 48 bucks should feed 4 people easily.

Oct. 4, 2020 – Dinner time . . . Asked my daughter and her boyfriend about the best BBQ in the area ?

So glad they took us to Big Mikes BBQ in Apex ! The metal Pig -like- Smoker out front sent good vibes up my spine! Oh this BBQ place has attitude, with an Owner who started up with a food truck, in 2011. Cooking up good ribs, brisket, chopped pork & chicken offered at two restaurants ( Apex & Cary, North Carolina).

Although a small place in Apex, they are expanding into the adjacent store in Beaver Creek Commons Plaza, on Creekside Landing Drive. . . Don’t pass on the Big BBQ Flavors inside. I like the Northeastern Carolina style BBQ with tangy cider vinegar sauce with hints of cayenne, salt, pepper, red pepper, maybe a bit of hot sauce. Mike’s BBQ sauce isn’t too sweet, very similar to Stubbs Smokey bbq sauce, but with more kick! Perfect, buy a jar for your home grilling & smoking meats.

My wife and I shared the Mike’s Platter! This dish includes brisket, chopped chicken, chopped pork . . . I pleaded with Chris ( our awesome server) to replace the sausage and 2 chicken wings for several ribs. The platter includes 2 sides, we tried the smoky potato salad and coleslaw . . . I cook good BBQ myself, but I rate Mike’s BBQ higher/ better! This BBQ is worth the 900 mile road trip from Maine ( our home). . . I’d rate the FOOD “5”! The “dining experience” also includes service which is also a “5”, but the ambience ( which includes a view of a parking lot) is a “3” . Thus I give it a “4” over all rank.

Notes: “Hits Different”

1. Kudos for good beer list on chalk bd.
2. Kudos for Bold Rock cider choices, clean crisp cider with BBQ is so good!
3. Kudos for BBQ mix & match selections with choices of sides !

Tasty bbq spot!

I took the kiddos here to get a late dinner. It wasn’t crowded at all and we were greeted the moment we walked in. Not too sure why some other reviewers said they waited 10 minutes for service when the counter is literally right in front of you as you walk in. It seems impossible for them to miss you.

The place is cozy and the food is awesome! We got the pretzel for an appetizer. It came with cheese sauce and spicy mustard. Even the pretzel had some nice spices on it- a change from the standard salt.

They were out of brisket at the time, so I got a pulled pork sandwich. I added some bbq sauce and I couldn’t stop eating! The cornbread is also delicious- it comes with honey butter!

The staff was very friendly- just a smidge forgetful. No silverware, and kids drinks were forgotten. Other than that, solid spot for tasty food.

Picked up Big Mikes for lunch last week. We shared, but we each had to have our own smoked potato salad. Pork was delicious, but I love that potato salad!!
