We went to Vals for some appetizers before our dinner somewhere else and sat at the bar. It was so fun to watch the bartenders do their thing! The service was amazingly fast. All the staff were so helpful and kind. My margarita was delicious. Their chips are my new favorite. Can’t wait to be back for a full meal soon!

My husband and I ate here a couple of years ago at the recommendation of a friend. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We came back this year for another enjoyable meal.
We were seated inside and I ordered Vals Margarita, my husband had water and Guacamole and chips which were delicious. My husband had two tacos, Fried Gulf Shrimp and Sweet Potato. I ordered three tacos, Beef Barbacoa, Cauliflower, and the Sweet Potato. We ate our tacos but both agreed that the Sweet Potato tacos were very oily. I had to squeeze quite a bit of orange oil from the taco before I could attempt to eat it. There was a big puddle of oil on my plate which was unappetizing so I just picked out what was edible. Very disappointing.
The service was good but we were told that management is charging us customers 20% tip on our bill whether we want to or not. What’s up with that???

We had an AMAZING experience at Val’s. I came here for a date night and the atmosphere is so charming and romantic. The decor is adorable and so chic, and we enjoyed the music as well. Our server, Elsie, was so attentive and professional!
Every single thing we ordered was DELICIOUS!!!!
For our appetizers we ordered chips and salsa, and we opted for the salsa cremosa made from avocado, lime, and cabbage. It tasted so fresh and delicious. The tortilla chips were also hot and perfectly salted.
We also ordered the elotes, which came with four corns on the cob. They were perfectly roasted, and the sauce and cheese on them was so good.
For our meal, we ordered tacos and they were all great. The cauliflower taco was the perfect amount of spicy, the sweet potato taco was so rich and smoky and delicious, the fish taco was fried and perfectly crunchy, the beef taco was very sherry heavy but still good, the pork taco was a classic taco, and the chicken taco was “the best taco I’ve ever had”, according to my date.
For dessert, we ordered the churros, which came with four ginormous churros and the most delicious creamy bitter chocolate sauce.
For our drink, we ordered a limeade, which was super sour and super yummy.
We loved this place and we are definitely coming back!

This was my first visit to Val’s and I was very impressed. The place is nicely done and attractively decorated. The outdoor seating is really nice, covered and with heating in the colder weather. The menu is varied with quite a few choices. The cocktail menu is also very nice. Our server was first class, very friendly and attentive. The food was also outstanding with large portions. I left full and very happy.

Val’s has a nice ambience. The food is ok, but not worth the price or the 20% add on to your ticket for service.
We went during lunch hour and it was empty. I have a feeling this place is about to close down.
Want a delicious taco and great ambience without a service go to Barracuda.

Brunch is really good. Had the breakfast burrito and huevos rancheros to split as well as the cherry cold brew. Both meals were good but I would most definitely recommend the huevos rancheros, they came on tostadas which added the perfect crunch to a savory, colorful meal. Both the host and the server did tell us in advance that they add a 20% service fee to the bill so it was no surprise. Our server gave us a horchata sample cup to add to the cold brew coffee as a creamer too which was nice.

I’m from Santa Barbara, CA and a California native, and the food at Vals blows away any Mexican food I have ever had in California. Additionally, the ambiance and service are excellent. The servers are very kind and attentive. The restaurant is clean and had a very cool vibe conducive for a pleasurable fun lunch or dinner. It’s super COVID friendly, and I’m sure after COVID, this will be even more THE place to party and have fun with friends. I can’t wait to visit Vals again!

Vals has a laid-back and modern atmosphere and a good happy hour drink menu offered 4-6 pm every day. Indoor and outdoor seating are available but if you are prone to mosquito bites, you might get bitten even indoors since the front door is open (I left with several fresh mosquito bites). The bartenders have good pours and the tortillas were tasty and fresh. The tacos had plenty of meat but the flavor was a bit lacking. I also prefer a bit more leche on my Tres Leches, still good though.
