Talk about a hidden gem! I feel like the entire world should know about this place. The Tasty Bowl Subs N Such is hands-down one of the best spots I’ve ever been to, and it’s not just because of the food—it’s because of Rajah. He is truly one of the most genuine, welcoming, and kind people you’ll ever meet. From the moment you walk in, he makes you feel like family. His energy is contagious, and his hospitality is unmatched.

Rajah has this amazing ability to customize dishes exactly to your taste buds. He literally encourages you to try anything and everything on the menu until you find your new favorite. The way he remembers people, their preferences, and goes above and beyond to make sure you’re happy is something you just don’t see often anymore. His customer service is absolutely incredible, and his memory is unreal!

Now let’s talk about the food. The portion sizes here are out of this world—I mean huge. I can honestly eat one of the specialty bowls twice, and that’s with me pushing myself to finish. Every bite is packed with flavor, and you can tell everything is made with care. The freshness, the seasoning, the creativity—it’s like comfort food with a twist that just hits every craving.

What makes it even better is the variety. Whether you’re in the mood for a specialty bowl, wings, apps, subs, or just want to build your own creation, you’ll find something that blows your mind. The flavors are bold, the portions are generous, and the quality is consistent every single time.

If you’re looking for a place that not only serves incredible food but also gives you an experience you’ll want to come back to again and again, this is it. Rajah has created something special here, and it deserves all the recognition in the world. I can’t recommend The Tasty Bowl enough—it’s easily one of my favorite places on the planet.

I’ve been keeping this spot under wraps for a while, but it’s finally time to let you in on one of Charlotte’s best-kept secrets. Tasty Bowl Subs N Such in Steele Creek is worth the drive. I originally discovered Tasty Bowl through a catering website when I ordered 60 bowls for my office, and the feedback from my coworkers was off the charts. After that, I knew I had to check it out in person.

Today, I finally made the trip, and it was worth every mile. The location is tucked away in a corporate park, so you might think you’re in the wrong spot at first. But when you see the wacky inflatable arms guy waving outside, you’ll know you’ve arrived at Tasty Bowl.

Not only did I get to try the food fresh from the source, but I also had the pleasure of meeting Raj, the owner. If you visit, you’ll probably meet him too since he’s always there making sure every customer is well taken care of. Raj is one of the most friendly, caring, and genuine people I’ve ever met. We ended up talking for over two hours about food, life, and world issues. He’s the kind of guy you could’ve spent hours on the phone with as a kid, chatting away on a corded landline in the ’90s.

The story behind Tasty Bowl is just as unique as Raj himself. While on vacation in Jamaica, he hired locals to cook for him during his stay. He was so inspired by their flavors and techniques that when he returned to the U.S., he decided to transform his sandwich shop into what is now Tasty Bowl. After testing out his new creations with customers, they told him he needed to start serving these bowls full-time, and just like that, Tasty Bowl was born.

Tasty Bowl specializes in hefty, flavor-packed rice and salad bowls with a variety of proteins, cheeses, toppings, and sauces. You can pick from signature bowls created by loyal customers or build your own from scratch. Tasty Bowl has many gluten-free menu items, making it a great spot for those with dietary restrictions. Whether you’re looking for a bowl, salad, or protein-packed meal, there are plenty of options to choose from. If you come here enough, Raj might even name a bowl after you.

I ordered the Cheezy Buffalo Bacon bowl, and it was fantastic. It came with buttered buffalo rice, grilled chicken, grilled onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms, all drizzled with hot sauce and shredded cheese. The spice level was just right for someone like me who doesn’t like overly spicy foods. One important tip is to make sure to mix up your bowl before digging in so that all the shredded cheese melts and the sauces blend perfectly into the rice.

There are many other signature bowls I need to try, and maybe one day I’ll finally be brave enough to create my own bowl. If I do, who knows? Hopefully Raj will add it to his menu board so everyone can order it.

Raj is also opening a Tasty Bowls & a vegetarian Indian spot in a ghost kitchen in South End, meaning soon you’ll be able to order Tasty Bowl and Vegetarian Indian food through third-party delivery services or pick up late-night meals until 1 AM.

This place is a hidden secret that everyone in Charlotte needs to know about. If you haven’t been yet, make the drive to Steele Creek and see for yourself. It won’t stay a secret for long.

What an amazing find! Food is amazing, the portions are HUGE! For a gluten-free girlie like myself, it has an incredible amount of options. A hidden gem for certain. We were given a sample when we arrived and it was delightful. We will definitely be back!

This was our first time trying this and it was delicious. The owner was welcoming and honest about his food and if it is your first time coming there he’ll give you a free sample before you buy which was awesome. They give you enough food for a reasonable price and the drinks were good as well. Would definitely recommend.

Been coming here for over a year now. The owner is very generous and honest. Food is over the top no matter what it is. Delicious, fresh and very filling sizes. For your 1st visit let him know and you’ll get to try a sample of what you prefer. I’ll continue to come here for years to come. Never disappointed.

Raj and his team are real deal customer service. If you have the opportunity to have anything on this menu and are feeling brave to try new spices. You came to the right spot.

Every time I come, it’s always a new experience. Whether it’s the service or flavors. I like to change it up. This is the type of spot you talk to whoever is taking you’re order and you let em know if you’re in a mood for some spicy suggestions. They will make it customized to your taste buds. Even try it with rice before you buy a whole bowl.

Today, I bought 2 bull rider bowls with steak, with Raj’s recommended drizzle of some ghost pepper sauce on top.

Can’t wait to see them in South End at their new location for a date night!

Raj, keep doing what you’re doing!

All 3 stars are for the service. The food wasn’t the best. The chicken tasted frozen, and not fresh at all. And it’s not exactly reasonably priced either.

I had high hopes after seeing the high ratings on maps, but I was disappointed. The chef and the staff were quite friendly and helpful.

I’m not sure if I’ll be back. I hope they take the feedback and serve fresh food to customers.

Hands down my favorite place to grab a bite from. Whether is this location (takeout) or the Westinghouse location, food is always on point. Owner is a great guy and puts his all into the quality of food he serves. If you want a little spice, ask for the Danny special! Shrimp Thai curry with black olives. Been eating with Raja since 2013 or so. Never had a bad rice bowl from him.

Rajah and team know how to treat you like family and they know how to create an AMAZING rice bowl! I allowed him to freestyle a bit with my bowl and the result was absolute perfection! Stir fried veggies, white rice, jerk chicken, curry sauce, jerk sauce, Gochujang, with pico on the side, topped off with an over-easy egg!! PERFECTION on all levels, you can taste that everything was fresh and all of the flavors hit different tastebuds. I even had a slightly runny nose which means the heat level was perfect! The guys over at the Tasty Bowl do it right and I’m glad I was able to find this hidden gem! Rajah even gave me a sample bowl for my sister to try because I bragged to her on how good it was!! Keep doing the good work, I appreciate your hospitality and attention to detail. Your love for what you do shows and comes through in your food creations!

The food was amazing! We were greeted by a young lady that asked us our food preferences and how much spice we liked. She then grabbed us a few samples of rice with a sauce according to our preferred heat level and that is what sealed the deal of me getting a rice bowl!

This establishment will not disappoint your palette!
