She gave me a hard time then said she had to call her boss. On the phone FOREVER and continued to ignore me when I tried to talk with her.
Decided this place did not need my business!! SO RUDE!!! Walked away. Will never go back – too many other taquerias and trucks nearby that are happy to serve you ….
We all know there is nothing worse than trying to fill a taco craving with a average taco. You accept it and tell yourself it was “just what you wanted,” but we all know that deep down there is still a longing for a excellent taco that just won’t stop nagging at your soul. Let Tacos El Guerrerito solve this problem for you.
My wife and I have been looking for the best taco spot in Pittsburg since we moved out here two years ago. We’ve tried nearly every recommended place on Google, yelp, social media, and everywhere in-between (seriously, we’ve eaten at almost every taco truck, taqueria, and food stand on the side of the road). Most of them have been decent to good, and a few have been great, but none have been good enough to make us stop looking, until now. Tacos El Guerrerito is THAT SPOT!
The portions are crazy: the super burritos are huge and each taco has enough meat to make 2 tacos out of. And everything we have tried has been very well seasoned.
A quick rundown of what we’ve tried thus far:
Pastor burrito 9.5/10
Suadero tacos 10/10
Tripa (extra crispy) tacos 10/10
Pollo tacos 9/10
Asada tacos 8.5/10
They also have Carnitas, Birria, Lengua, Cabeza, and Chorizo that we have yet to try.
They make, hands down, the best Pastor in Pittsburg (maybe even the East Bay)! Previously, anytime we wanted good pastor, we had to drive back to Oakland to get it. Now we have a place that rivals the best Oakland has to offer. It’s perfectly seasoned and slow cooked on a spit. There is little more you can ask for. Idk why it is so hard to do, but this is the only place we have found that does Pastor right. This alone is worth making this the only taco spot you go to.
The Suadero is flavorful and cooked to perfection: crispy yet tender. It’s so good that it is probably the reason the asada only gets an 8.5… if I want a carne taco, this is the one I am getting every time.
The Tripa is fantastic, but the key is getting it extra crispy. It gets a nice char on it and might be the best single bite you can get. They can be a bit heavy, so while our hearts crave a full plate of them, we usually get one or two at most .
The Pollo was great. Like everything it was well seasoned. It’s got good flavor on its own, but it can get lost in the flavor of the Salsas, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing because their salsas are great.
The Asada is really good, and I’d bet it is probably better than we’re giving it credit for. It’s just that other option are so damn good that it seems underwhelming. Still, it’s far better than the average Asada.
Both their red and green salsas are great by themselves, but we like mixing both together. Green is vibrant and tangy, while the red is smokey and spicy.
I am telling you, if you are in Pittsburg CA, THIS IS THE TACO SPOT!
Stop settling for average tacos and go to Tacos El Guerrerito to get the tacos you deserve!
