Outstanding fish and chips. The cod was fresh tasting, filleted, and hand-breaded the same day with a crispy panko crust. The clam chowder was excellent as well, and I learned it’s non-dairy without sacrificing any flavor.
All of the sides that I tried, including the coleslaw, were great, and the portions are huge, one meal could easily feed two people. The staff was super friendly, which made the experience even better.
Overall, this is a fantastic spot whether you’re dining solo, traveling with friends, or meeting up with family. It’s very kid-friendly and located in a welcoming food hall atmosphere. Highly recommended.

This place has super fresh fish! It’s also fried well and in clean oil you can tell. The sauces are homemade and the coleslaw is a good mix of vinegar and creamy. The owner is super nice and had a lot of great recommendations. The shrimp was lovely too. The plating was so beautiful and playful!! We’re definitely gonna come back for the famous clam chowder!

Wow, this place really does live up to the hype you see on social media. First thing, don’t judge a book by its cover. The wife and I came in not expecting much at first…but once we were greeted by the owner and his family they treated us better than we have at any other spot. Breading was perfect, not to thick not to thin. Fries were done just right and the shrimp was delicious. The cocktail sauce was perfectly tangy as well as the tartar sauce. We ordered the special and it definitely filled us up. The attention detail was great with the sliced lemon and edible flower. Highly recommend this “hole in the wall” spot. Again, the service was top notch. A total must try if in the area!

Was looking for some fish & chips and decided on this place due to the ratings. Thought it was odd that the best fish & chips was a Thai restaurant, but it did not disappoint. The restaurant is inside an older unassuming warehouse style mall… And I say mall as a loose term! Nonetheless, the food, pricing and portions were great. There seemed to be a few other great food options here as well.
We ordered the fish & chips meal that came with fries, coleslaw and chowder. The chowder came out first and was thick and yummy. We added a little smokey sriracha that was recommended, which was really good! Then the rest came out as we were finishing the chowder. We shared a 3pc cod meal with my wife and kiddo. Figured we would share this and then try something from another place, but we were too full after the fish & chips! As you can see from the picture the fish portions were pretty big.
As we were leaving the staff offered my son a toy prize from their pirate treasure box… Which was not expected and a nice surprise and extra touch to top off the experience. I definitely recommend this place!

The food was so good, and the owner was really kind. He chatted with us for a bit and went out of his way to make sure we got to sample his favorites on the menu. It made the meal and our trip better. Next time we’re in Tacoma we’ll be back! Thanks for a good evening!

I’m a regular once a week at this place. I feel like I’m with family whenrver I come here. Amazing fish!! Fried to perfection and leaves you satisfied without the heavy feeling after your meal. Portions are HUGE, and the fish is flaky and just damn delicious! By far the BEST place to get a great meal. This has become my #1 favorite place to eat!
The pictures I posted speak for themselves!
Thanks Robert and family..Scooter Girl

We traveled to Tacoma for a concert a couple of weeks ago, and this spot was conveniently located in a food court near Tacoma dome. We split a large cod combo, and fish and chips were crispy and fresh. I really enjoyed the chowder. We loved it so much we came back the next day and got an extra bowl of chowder, too. I have a sensitive stomach, but the fish and fries were not greasy at all, and I didn’t have any issues after eating it two days in a row. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. If only I lived in the area, I’d become a regular, for sure.

Take it from this San Francisco native and life long San Francisco Giants fan, if you have a hankering for excellent pankoed fish and chips and grilled lingcod (with hush pups) when you’re in Tacoma, then go no further than the Paya Thai Fish and Chips stand. Oh, did I fail to mention that the proprietor of this fine eatery is a LA native and a lifelong Los Angeles Dodgers fan? Yes it’s true, fans of both the Giants and Dodgers can co-mingle and enjoy one another’s company on this planet we live upon.

Hands down the best fish and chips I’ve had in the area! The halibut tastes incredibly fresh, which really makes all the difference. Not only is the price great for the quality you get, but the presentation is also awesome. On top of all that, the customer service is amazing. Highly recommend!
