Upon entry into Cafe Reconcile, we were warmly greeted by 2 youths who promptly led us to our table. They set up the table for us and another youth came over to take our orders, starting with drinks. We asked for water this time and she came back in a bit with our iced water, giving us time to look through the menu. This time, we ordered the Jerk Chicken Plate ($13) that came with 2 sides where we ordered the Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese. We also had the day’s special. Since it was a Thursday, we tried the LA Shrimp and White Beans ($13). For desserts, we tried the Peach Cobbler ($7).
Overall, we felt that everything was delicious. We also peered into the kitchen and saw that everyone in the kitchen looked really young. This means that the program has really taken root, producing excellent chefs in the kitchen that cooked up the excellent lunch that we were having…

This place was amazing! By far the best food we had in NOLA. Price was good, drinks were great, and I will dream about those crab cakes! The gumbo was the best of 5 different restaurants. My husband is still bemoaning the fact that they were closed on Sunday and we couldn’t go again. Plus their mission is worth supporting. 5 star dining for a 3 star price. Go support them because I desperately need them to still be there when we visit again.

This has got to be the best comfort food that is pretty, I’ve ever had. It’s top notch, right up there with those high end places. Beautiful inside. I recommend the fried turkey necks. Just try them, I promise you will want more! Very tender, meat, fell right off the bone. Fried green tomato sandwich was a 10 out of 10. So delicious. The bacon was cooked the way it should be so when you bite in to the sandwich, a strip of bacon doesn’t come out, only the bite. The tomatoes were done perfect and that jalapeno cornbread toast it was served on? Delicious, not dry, just perfect. If you’re ever in New Orleans, you must go. You won’t be disappointed. We are going back for lunch tomorrow. This non – profit does a great job with the employees who get a 2nd chance. These kids are going somewhere, they are great chefs, hosts and servers. I would imagine some will go on to own their own restaurant.

We visited with our kids for lunch and had a fantastic time! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We got the catfish and fried chicken with some nice sides. I highly recommend the chicken, collards, and catfish with the crayfish roulade (worth the upcharge). I will say it was a bit loud for our baby, but otherwise was a delightful family experience!

You must patronize this business!!! The cause and everything it represents is AMAZING in itself, but the FOOOODDD!! The food is so delicious with so many options of savory goodness to choose from you will sinfully full when you leave.
Great service and beyond delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts. I recommend the turkey necks, greens and peach cobbler. However you can do no wrong with any selection made.

Great food and portions every time. LA catfish, fried chicken, cornbread muffins, crab cakes and blueberry old fashioned were all so tasty. Can’t beat the prices either.

First time here. Discovered it when out working in the city. Great place!! Love the fact of how they are giving back to the community by helping young people with work training and such. The Fried Green Tomato sandwich was nothing short of delicious!!! The greens were great too!!! Looking forward to coming back! They take reservations (we were fortunate enough to get seated without one, I understand why now).

Fabulous food, friendly service, and great mission! We had the fried catfish with collards and onion rings plus the Thursday special of shrimp and white beans. It was all excellent. The onion rings were the best I’ve ever tasted!
