Everything was flavorful. We will definitely be back.
Its relatively small and gets busy quick. Very clean resturant.
Original:
I wanted to like this place. The waitress seemed nice and everything looked nice as well. It’s close to my house. I saw good ratings.
Even though it was only half full, or less, it was super loud, to the point of being an uncomfortable sports bar-level loudness. I’m hard of hearing and never have this problem, even when dining in New York / Miami / in busy metro areas at busy places. A table next to me were apparently raised by wolves and extremely loud. I practically jumped every time one of them yelled something and I was 5-8 feet away. All of the hard surfaces reflect sound and everything reverberates a lot. It was uncomfortable.
I ordered a sushi and sashimi dinner meal, unsweetened iced tea with lemon, salad with ginger dressing on the side, and shrimp shumai.
The salad was served coated with dressing. The shrimp shumai was good. The tea was served without lemon. The new salad arrived with dressing on the side and it was good. A refill on tea arrived with lemon when I again made a point of asking for it.
I’ve had sushi / sashimi at a lot of places, a lot of times a meal by myself is $60-$100 without alcohol. It’s a weekly treat for me. But I get it. This is a small local place.
I was shocked to find strange toppings on my sashimi, brown and green, as well as smears on the sushi. It appeared to be some sort of flavored oil. I wish they had warned me, I definitely didn’t expect or enjoy that. Roe is one thing, oils are another entirely. I did not see this mentioned on the menu.
I would have expected toppings on a custom roll where it was clearly labeled.
I have never had sushi or sashimi that I didn’t eat, but tonight I left several pieces on my plate. It just didn’t taste great. It wasn’t a matter of being full either. By the end of my meal, I was so turned off that I didn’t want dessert.
I tipped her $10 anyway on a $50 meal, despite the not great service. I don’t think I’ll be back. I’ve already had better sushi and sashimi elsewhere in the area.
We ordered the edamame and tempura appetizers and a sushi sashimi combo for two… more like combo for three! Plenty of food for my husband and I and I got a to-go box. The fish was so fresh and somehow even the ginger tasted amazing.
It was a little bit of wait to get the sushi, but the waiter was very attentive and made sure to check in on us every few minutes to let us know the food was in the works.
We will definitely give them the time to settle down and it will be a regular spot for us.
