Oh how I wish we had a blazers near us! We visited while in town from Seattle and we were so impressed with this menu as it is the first BBQ joint we have ever found to cater to vegetarians and meat lovers alike.
It was so good that we dined here twice during our trip. We tried the veggie black bean burger, smoked cauliflower, zucchini fries with jalapeño dip, the arugula salad with sautéed grapes (yum!), the nachos with house made queso and last but absolutely not least, the corn ribs . Everything was wonderfully tasty, fresh and expertly prepared, but oh my goodness I have never tasted anything like those corn ribs and I’d give a kidney for the recipe. They are salty, tangy and mouth wateringly delicious. Just absolute heaven. They have a wide variety of beverages including some fun and original cocktail options and a fantastic old fashioned bottled rootbeer.
Service: Our food was served to us hot and fresh within 10 minutes of ordering and was delivered to our table by the restaurant owner herself. She is delightful and clearly spends a lot of time at her restaurant to ensure everything is running like a well oiled machine and that her customers are happy.
Atmosphere: If you’re looking for a place that is both family friendly AND party positive, this is your spot! They have a huge covered outdoor seating area with live music, festive lighting and meat on the grill giving off delicious aromas. Inside there’s a nice big bar seating area and flat screens on every wall to cover all the sporting events. When we were there, there were kids and adults dancing to the live music (which was great by the way) and it was just a super fun lively atmosphere. We can’t wait to go back!
What a pleasant experience! We sat under the canopy outside as did everyone else. I peeked inside and nobody was dining there. No surprise: outside is where it’s happening! We sat at a table near the stage and enjoyed listening to a live band performing country music. Not my favorite kind of music, but they were quite good and I can’t imagine any other type of band for a downhome barbecue vibe.
The place filled up soon after the band started. You might want to make reservations.
I ordered the ribs, which came with barbecue and honey mustard sauces on the side. The ribs were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Very tasty.
Our server was super friendly and offered great suggestions.
Overall I had an unexpectedly fun time eating good food and getting into some folksy Cajun/country tunes. (A guy was literally playing a washboard hanging from his shoulders!)
I really hope Blazers succeeds. It’s bringing a much needed spark of energy to this sleepy part of downtown Novato.
Give it a shot. Definitely go when there’s a band playing. I’m guessing that’s weekends only, but perhaps not. Best new restaurant in Novato for quite some time. I’ll be back.
The service is great. 100% better than the previous establishment (Jerry’s was awful). No waiting, and friendly attentive staff.
Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.
I come for the ribs, but I stay for the family atmosphere. Kerie, the owner, is incredibly friendly. She loves to make the rounds and strike up conversations with customers. Hetty, the manager, never forgets a name and always knows how to make you feel welcome. Hetty has an amazing talent for making everyone feel special and adds a personal touch that keeps us coming back.
As a BBQ lover, Blazer’s is a slice of Texas in the heart of Novato.
