Fun vibes, great atmosphere. Our server was eager to please. Fun for family night or date night. Our party of 6 was seated right away in the back room, which was a little loud but you could still keep a conversation going. The food was great! It came out fast and piping hot! Huge portions, we all needed to go containers. Great value for the money.

We love Hidalgo! It’s our go-to for Mexican cuisine in Ankeny. They’re patient and kind with ours kids and never make us feel rushed! We have tried plenty other restaurants but this is the one that has great food and quality servers.

Environment: Excellent seating with the highlight being a patio.
Customer Service: the wait staff does everything they can to make our dining experience very pleasant once the realized we were there, 20 min after we were seated they came around but from that point forward they were excellent.
Food Quality: the overall food Quality was great. We asked for the hot sauce to be removed from some of our entrees but it wasn’t, which they corrected quickly and my son’s ice cream was freezer burnt.
There were a couple rough spots but overall we enjoyed our experience. We will be back and I would encourage anyone to give them a chance.

Pretty good first visit to Hildagos. I had the Hildagos Burrito in a bowl. Lots of rice and beans underneath the lettuce, kind of bland though. Others liked Hildagos, so give it a try. I would return for another dish.

I tried to privately relay my concerns to management, but the email listed on the website dies not work.
Something seems to have changed here in the last few months. Prices increased – which is understandable – but simultaneously the food quality has suffered, and they also implemented a 3% credit card fee on top.
My last few times here, particularly take-out, have just left a lot to be desired. I hope it can be figured out because this used to be one of my favorite spots!

Took me long enough to get here, but the food was great!
Kids meals are very pricey for Kraft Mac and cheese with fries (no included drink) so be prepared to spend $10 a kid.
Peach margarita and cheese steak was top notch tho!

Hidalgo is pretty good. My wife and I had our second date here, and the rest is history! Tonight I had the Elchiladas Hidalgo and my girls had the kids quesadilla and kids taco. The kids meals come with complimentary ice cream, and they get to visit the ice cream topping bar. Service was good. The price was reasonable. Parking wasn’t a problem. We will come back.
