Sorry Firehouse, I really wanted this to work. I thought our relationship would continue. I was so happy to hear that you were re-opening. But alas, the friendship must end. Things have changed. Maybe its me, maybe I have changed and its not you…the hush puppies were burnt and tasted of old fish…there are no fried options for children (a must have) other than the french fries that accompanied my 6 year old child’s grilled chicken which were unseasoned, unsalted- alas flavorless. I suppose this is a new “healthy” menu for kids but may you one day have young screaming “plebes to this world” that would be soothed and quieted with some fried, crunchy and salty mouthly delights. Maybe its me and I have grown old, I am not sure. Maybe there are new ways to do things in the culinary world. My husband failed to arrive home with the two pizza I had ordered–perhaps as I was told because they were mistakenly misappropriated to the wrong individual and then brought back to a lady who handled money. A lady who was trying to graciously re-arrange them in their boxes, nice and neat (I hate to think that I someone handled money and then touched my food with out gloves or washing, the germs on the food, yuck!!!). I suppose I am not in the know to these new culinary ways of doing things. For that I apologize…I must end things weep, weep

The dinner we ordered came out nicely presented fresh and hot. It was so delicious. Our server was very upbeat and ten steps ahead of all his tables. Nice mixed crowd. It’s a place I would recommend to family, friends and any stranger looking for a delicious bite to eat. Can’t wait to try their brunch menu. Yum!

Under new ownership…we stopped for breakfast with some people this weekend. There are not a lot of food options in this area, so we were hopeful. Food was fair, typical cake batter premix pancakes and cheap bacon, but would have been tolerated if the staff on a Sunday morning was a little more cheerful. We were waited on by the most miserable women I have dealt with in a while. Service was slow, and we were one of the only tables. They looked like they hated their job and were put off that we had come in. Then when the order was ready they had to ask who had ordered what in a small party. Condiments and little sides like butter were forgotten or not offered, then the ladies seemed irritated we had to keep asking for each item repeatedly. Also, the holes in drywall of main dining room where items have been ripped off walls it should have been repaired before the restaurant was reopened. It will be tough for this place to make it another 6 months….

We were in town for a wedding and some locals recommended this restaurant. It was absolutely wonderful! Great service, prompt and accurate. Our food was so delicious we ended up sharing. Plus the atmosphere was lively, yet refined.

This is a nice option in an area with few choices. The menu is varied, and everything we had was very good. Our group ordered a pizza, the gumbo, the shrimp and grits, and the Southern burger with the pimento cheese and fried green tomato topping. The waists was very attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The only reason we don’t give it the fifth star is the nose level in an otherwise cozy late night setting.

We ordered the whole flounder. It was different from when we were there about 10 years ago. Then it was a long fish that hung over both ends of a large platter. Today it was a large, rather square piece on a regular dinner plate. The food was delicious, very hot, and tasty. The service was very good and friendly. The website said $28, the menu said $24, and I was charged $26. So a compromise, I guess.

This was our first time to the Old Firehouse even though we have lived in the area for awhile. This place is amazing! It’s downtown Charleston quality food without having to go downtown. Best fried green tomatoes we’ve ever had. I would HIGHLY recommend the Old Firehouse. Thank you Mika for bring wonderful food to Hollywood!

The old firehouse has been are special place for the last 10 yrs even though we might only go 3 -4 times a year and travel from James island. This will be are last time. I must say first are server was great The blue burger was my choice since the menu choices where such a disappointment from the great items from the old menu no longer exist. The flavor was good at best ,the thanksgiving chicken diner was a chicken quarter that appeared good but was so dry neither one of us could eat it.
This little hidden gem we found many years ago no longer exist.

Very pleasant atmosphere, very good waitress, good food but the price was too high. The four of us would go more often if it wasn’t so expensive. Will tell everyone that I know it is a very good restaurant but to expensive to go that far out.
