On an off day due me still getting over a slight cold, I strolled into Mateus. I’ve passed by this place numerous times as I live in the neighborhood but today I wanted to try it out, finally. I got a Mateus burger deluxe with fries, the soup of the day which was shrimp soup and corn on the cob. I will say I was very disappointed overall. The soup didn’t have a strong shrimp flavor I was looking for, more cream than anything. The shrimp had been in the soup so long, you could taste it starting to breakdown and was not enjoyable. The burger itself came unsalted and unseasoned in general. The some of the lettuce was brown going on wilted, and the cheese was half melted. The most enjoyable part of this meal was the corn, unfortunately. I always wanted to go into this place and now, I’ve got my answer. The decor is nice, displays are appropriate however, the food, in opinion is a total tel down. I didn’t even finish my plate I was so turned off by the meal. I won’t frequent this establishment again.

I ordered a grilled chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce. On the menu provided online it says $21 but they charged me $26. I finally get home to eat my meal and I open it to see there was NO SHRIMP. I paid $26 for freakn two grilled chicken skillets and mashed potatoes. Smh so disappointed.

I have ordered food there before for delivery. This time the fish I ordered smelled like ammonia. Tasted horrible and the horrible smell is still lingering in my house and mouth. I took two bites and am feeling very nauseous. I strongly recommend that you inspect your food carefully!!! How could they not smell it!!?? I’m going to call them and tell them!!

Cozy place and delicious food! Huge variety of seafood and fish for any taste! Lots of different meet! Delicious desserts! And the stuff that is very friendly and makes you feel so welcome! The prices are very affordable!Loved everything about that restaurant! Highly recommed it to everybody!

Super nice and old fashion service! The way life use to be where you felt served and treated nice! I had eggplant Parmesan For lunch. Yum! My friend had a chicken sandwich. Both were good size portions. If I was not traveling, I would have taken leftovers.The Restroom was clean, staff very attentive, atmosphere elegant.

This was an amazing experience. Ok Covid was a concern but they took my temp and it was normal. We were the only ones eating dinner as it was only 3pm. The wait staff is really friendly and nice and very helpful. I ordered unsweatened Ice Tea and they brought a fresh picture… very thoughtful. I had lobster Bisque which was so tasty with lobster pieces in it. I also had Grilled Octopus and that was amazing. Cannot tell you how delicious the sauce was. Then had a very fresh salad. For the Main dish I had Grilled Lamb Chops with a sauce that had a hint of cheese. After being completely blown away by the food, my friend ordered expresso and dessert, Creme Brulee.. Besides having a sugar high… I was in food heaven. You know I needed this. I also tasted one of their Oysters and several pieces of Lobster in a spicy red sauce. What a Meal… They are on instagram with a new menu every day an the food is delivered hot. Beautiful time much appreciated. Thank you so much
Update: November 8 2024 Took my friend to Kennedy Airport and called my friend Joe to see if he wanted to go out. It was late on Friday night.. As always food was great. Oysters were amazing. I had grilled squid with lemon and garlic. So well done. This is a very local place with a very mixed crowd. Very pleasant to go there.

I actually grew up in Queen’s village and always walked by this restaurant but up until today I never walked in there, biggest regret. For Monday the seafood was really fresh, The pasta was superb, And the overall service and atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back again.

I live here since 2008 first time I’ve ate here. It was delicious the fishermen platter special $22 . Money we’ll spend.It was enough 4 2 people. My son help me finish it. It was fresh. My guy couldn’t finish . We will be back.
