Sometimes I am a good Catholic boy and remember to eat fish on Friday during Lent. Today was one of those days and Fish Haven made me glad that I did.
I am shocked that I am giving a fish stand 5 Stars, but it was seriously that good. I ordered the Catfish Nuggets Dinner. It came with Hush Puppies and for my two sides, I chose Fries and Cole Slaw. The dinner also came with, a choice of bread (white, wheat or rye), sliced white onion and dill pickle chips.
Fish Haven is a small blue trailer in a parking lot for Riverside Saloon. It’s only open on Fridays and everything is done to order. While I waited for my order, I saw a sign saying you could buy their breading and that it was available in stores. Once I tasted it, I could see why you’d want to buy it.
My nuggets had a nice crisp coating and the seasoning in the breading was full of flavor. The Hush Puppies had chopped jalapeños, which made them the best Hush Puppies I have ever had. The fries were seasoned and still had the skins on and that’s a plus for me. My Cole Slaw was creamy and runny, but the had decent flavor. Other sides offered were, potato salad and baked beans.
It’s a trailer, so you order at a window and wait outside for your order to be complete. If you want to eat there, they do have two picnic tables to sit and eat. They make paying easy by accepting cash and card. The staff I dealt with was friendly
This may be my go to for Friday fish all the way through Lent. Plus, I’m getting me some of their breading to use at home. I bet it will be great of pork chops.

Absolutely hands down the best catfish and hush puppies I’ve ever had. The slaw and beans are amazing too. My husband and I moved from STL to Alton, back in Sept. We finally stopped in and tried it and we were not disappointed. Great, hot food with wonderful service. There’s a few picnic tables to sit and eat, with an umbrella to shade you from the sun. We will be back!

Definitely the best fish dinner we’ve had in a long time. The breading they use and spices are blended perfectly,!!! Never been a true fan of fish until I tried Fish Haven!!! Absolutely would eat there again and recommend!!!

Tried this place for the first time tonight after seeing all the rave and it was 100% some of the best fish I have had in the area hands down! Sides were great as well I loved the potato salad most. 10/10 would recommend!!
Edit to add Melissa the woman who served me tonight was delightful and truly so nice even offering to bring another customers order into the bar next door. Truly great customer service and food highly recommend Fish Haven if you havent already!

Best fish around!!! Great prices and the dinners are enough to feed 2. The owners are so kind, they even went out of their way to deliver food to me at work today. They have a customer for life right here. Thanks so much guys, your the best!!!

Very nice staff. But waited 25 minutes for 2 plates. They also forgot the beans and tartare sauce. Fries were dry and tasteless. Fish was clearly not the best. Wanted this to be a little gem of a spot but its more like a freezer section pop up. Unfortunate :9

The food truck wasn’t at its location I am assuming the weather. I called their # on website and they told me they we’re serving at the VFW which I loved that idea (I will support anything to do with a veteran) when I arrived walked right in order food, very friendly knowledgeable young lady taking orders. As I was waiting for food got a phone some other friends wanted too add to the order and they didn’t have a problem at all considering it was close for them to stop serving food. It was great food, service and experience I will be back, if not for fish for the Vets also

Omg I just found this place and I’m glad I did. The ladies greeted me with love and smiles. They told the history of this place and all. The food was AMAZING!!!!! I’m a stickler for good service and boy did I strike gold! I’m from Belleville Illinois so I’m out here working and wanted something different. I’m glad I came. Thanks ladies for making my day
