No frills Vietnamese food in a small but comfortable space on the edge of Chinatown…. The food was very fresh and authentic. Run by a local couple/family, the service was very hospitable… Prices very fair. The Vietnamese coffee was traditional slow drip and delicious. Ordered the banh mi sandwich and it was also a star… The bread was fresh baked, and had the perfect texture and softness on the inside with just the right amount of crisp on the crust. Definitely recommended.

This is my second pho experience in the district and I can 100% this one was best so far. I really enjoyed the broth and the beef was very fresh. The greens were also bright and crisp. Amazing service, definitely will come back. The pho was amazing! Note that they recently had a name change to golden river, same owner/staff. The place can be empty at times but I think it’s because the lunch crowds eats fast.

The owner is so friendly and so are the staff! Their menu has a good variety to cater to everyone! I especially enjoyed the chicken rice, egg rolls, and crispy noodles! They are generous with their fresh veggies and the portions are fantastic considering pricing and all. Id definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

We’ve been looking for a good bowl of pho for a long time and were quite disappointed. Their menu is a mix of Cantonese and Vietnamese, we wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t recommended by my auntie. Their pho is easily the best on the island!!! You can smell the spices the second it’s brought out of the kitchen. Good portion of meat and each bite is very tasty. Service is good. Found out the owner is Vietnamese born Cantonese, hence the menu.

A place to ago when you wanna just get what you order and be left alone. No upselling, just a quick eye to eye contact if you need anything from the staff. Food is simple, delicious, with nothing fancy.

Their pho is awesome, good portions, not stingy with the vegetables either, add a cup of their fresh dripped ice Vietnamese coffee and you’ve got a perfect lunch combination. Their portion sizes are pretty good, will likely fill up even a hungry local. It is located in China Town, so you get a lot of bang for your buck, average about $10-15/person (depends on how hungry you are, if you’re someone who usually eats 2-3 entrées plus appetizers, desserts and drinks it will probably run you about $30-40, still cheaper than lots of other restaurants that would usually cost you about $70-80).

It has been a while since I have found a very good Vietnamese restaurant that still offers authentic dishes, true taste, no skipping on ingredients, and generous portions at a reasonable price. Of course I had to go to Chinatown and the most sketchiest part to find it, but it was well worth it.

Located at the end of Chinatown at the corner or River and N. King it isn’t exactly the most pleasant of locations. The building as well as the surroundings are rather dubious and ominous in appearance. However, despite as bad as everything looks, it is safe and once you get inside, you are in a cute little well kept restaurant being taken care of very friendly staff.

I ordered the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup also know as Bún Bò Huế. What an amazing soup. It was spicy, but not like rocket launching blow your head off. Of course I added a good heaping spoonful of there incredible homemade chili sauce because I do like it rocket launching. The broth flavor was rich with lot of great meat tidbits of various sorts. It was also a lot larger than I expected and if had know the size would be so generous, would have probably gone for the medium size.

The spring rolls that I also got were very fresh and you could tell made with care. I like the fact that you could order a small plate of 2 and it still came with all the fixings that come with Vietnamese spring rolls to make lettuce wraps.

Be brave and head down to check this place out. It really is worth it.
