Ordered the penne vodka with sausage off Uber Eats! My first time eating here but it won’t be the last! Very flavorful, large portions, delivered HOT and the garlic bread was so soft and warm. I really enjoyed my food definitely would recommend

It was just okay. Ordered on slice because it went from their website. Paid $5 delivery fee and 20% tip, for them to just send it through DoorDash. Had to show the delivery person I already tipped after being questioned.
Could have gotten free delivery via Uber and I had a coupon.
Pizza was cold like it had been sitting for a while. Crust was really hard and chewy. To top it off it was more expensive than other places. Just disappointing all around.

UPDATED – Chicago style.
First l need you to know that after I left my original review, based solely on the Sicilian, Johnny was extremely gracious; he reached out to me, then not only refunded the cost of my original pizza, but gave me a credit to try others. I was genuinely impressed by his customer orientation and his commitment to provide a product that I truly enjoyed. We need more people in the world who care this much about their customers!

So… This time I went for the Chicago style, with nothing added, because I wanted to experience their basic product. I’m more impressed than I was by the Sicilian (to be fair, The Sicilian was somewhat better, reheated the next day?!). Keep in mind this is roughly just a $20 pie so we’re not going to get niceties like a cornbread crust – which is what some of the places in Chicago are known for. That said I thought it was quite good for the price. As I ate further into the slice moving out toward the outer crust it seemed a little thicker and there was more sauce and flavor. Next time I’ll order it with *extra sauce* which I think would be a good addition if like me you love a lot of it. But even without that it was very good.

I’m predicting with the extra sauce it will be an extremely good pie for the price and I’m raising my overall rating to 4 stars

I’m looking forward to trying the Chicago again soon with extra sauce.

ORIGINAL REVIEW – 3 stars
My goal going to Johnny’s was to find truly good deep dish pizza. (I can’t evaluate the New York style or thin slice because I didn’t try it.) I went with the Sicilian style today and it’s good but not great. When I have deep dish pizza I want so much tomato sauce coming out of it you’d think I’m bleeding. I’ve had Sicilian style in New England. Sorry, not close. Next time I’ll try the pan pizza; but I’ve had Chicago deep dish in 4 Chicago restaurants so it’s gotta be much better than this or I’ll be moving on. Sorry.

Best lunch combo in Raleigh!! I mean two perfectly baked NY slices the size of your face and a drink for only $8?? Can’t beat it…service was great, food came out real quick. A significant upgrade in all aspects over “Papa’s pizza” that was previously here.

Been waiting for Johnny’s to come to N Raleigh for several years now and stoked that he landed at Greystone!

(second slice not pictured bc I ate it too fast before I could post!)

I am a self-proclaimed Pizza snob! I have seen Johnny’s advertised for years, but I just was never in the area. Well, so glad now they are in my own backyard! Tried the pizza last week, then tried some wings, and Penne ala Vodka. Let me just say, it is the best pizza I have had in all my years in Raleigh! The thing about NY pizza is getting the sauce right, and Johnny’s does just that!

To add credibility to this review I’ll share that I grew up in NY with parents who were chefs. My father taught at the Culinary Institute of America. My wife ordered a large NY Style pizza, garlic knots, spinach calzone, chicken bacon ranch pizza roll, meatball parm sub, a super Italian sub, and eggplant parm with linguine. Literally everything was perfectly made with high quality ingredients. My son, 17, stated “only order pizza from this place from now on”. Convenient that is 10 min from my house. Highly recommended. Google reviews rarely let me down. They definitely didn’t in this case. Absolutely deserve the nearly five stars.

My husband is a pizza connoisseur of sorts. I also love pizza but not to the degree he does. We both agreed this is 100% the best pizza we have ever had, and we have lived in multiple states. They are always posting awesome deals too. Everything is amazing. The subs, slices, whole pizzas, appetizers. The fried breadsticks are out of this world. Highly recommend

Johnny’s Pizza Raleigh (Lead Mine Rd) — Best Pizza in the Triangle. Period.

Johnny’s Pizza on Lead Mine Road is hands down the best pizza in the Raleigh–Durham area. No debate.

Everything Dave Portnoy looks for in a one-bite review is here.
Almost zero flop.
Perfectly melted cheese.
A crust that genuinely tastes like it came straight out of NYC.

I’ve lived here for six years, and I’m honestly disappointed it took me this long to find this place.

Now let’s talk about the garlic knots—because these might be the best I’ve ever had in my life. Crunchy on the outside. Warm, soft, and fluffy on the inside. The garlic topping is balanced, flavorful, and not greasy. Just the right punch without overpowering the dough. Most places give you bland, doughy knots. These are on another level.

I usually don’t branch out at pizza joints beyond pizza and garlic knots. This place changed that. Everything was so good that I now want to work my way through the entire menu.

Bottom line: if Johnny’s Pizza is an option, I’m not going anywhere else in Raleigh.
Step aside, Bowstring Pizza.
There’s a new sheriff in town—and his name is Johnny’s Pizza.
