It had been more than six months since my last visit to Maxwell Bros, a place we used to really enjoy, especially for their Hawaiian pizza with spicy honey. We always went there with the expectation of a great pizza and good service.
The place is still large and pleasant, mostly staffed by young people, as usual. However, this time the experience was quite different from what we remembered. The pizza was not the same pizza we used to love. The dough was soft, the cheese was not properly melted, and the pizza arrived cold, which clearly affected the overall experience. On top of that, the service felt much less warm than usual. It is hard to explain exactly why, but it definitely did not feel like the same level of hospitality we were used to.
We ordered three Hawaiian pizzas. The first two had the issues mentioned above. The third pizza, however, arrived more golden, with a better crust and much closer to the pizza we had always enjoyed there. Still, the product should be consistent every single time, from the first pizza to the last.
I do not know if there was a change in ownership or management, but the entire experience honestly felt like a different business. This review is meant to be constructive, because this was always a place we enjoyed coming to, and I truly hope they return to the level that once defined them.

Love the atmosphere here! The way is ambient makes the story of the place; their artisanal beers are delicious and their pizza is fantastic! Hubby got the Margherita and I had the Bianca (divine!)
Our server was also since he looked for us every moment.

Maxwell Beer & Pizza is hands down one of the best neighborhood spots around. The service is exceptional—Hannah went above and beyond, warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even better.
The beer selection is top-notch, especially the Czech beer on draft, perfectly poured and incredibly refreshing. As for the food—the meatballs with ricotta cheese are outstanding, rich, flavorful, and easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere.
Great atmosphere, great people, and consistently high quality. Simply put, this place gets everything right. A must-visit and an easy go-to for locals.

After enjoying this place since they opened, my son wanted to have his wedding rehearsal dinner there. We worked with Steph for almost a year to make sure this would work for our needs and boy did her and her staff pull it off! We had 30 guests last weekend (beautiful weather to be outside) on the patio. The atmosphere was perfect for our guests who mainly came in from the snowy northeast. The vibe was super casual and fun just like my son envisioned. The food is always great and the service was perfect! Thank you Steph and crew from making this such a fun and special event for our family!

All pizzas are the same size. The atmosphere feels retro. We ordered Margarita. The crust was my favorite part. The sauce is slightly sweet. The cheese is perfect. Certainly coming back to try new flavors. Really enjoyed this for a quick bite with my husband. (Interesting fact: no men’s restroom, just women’s and unisex)

The place had a noticeable locker-room smell right when we walked in, kind of musty and off-putting, which was an instant red flag. We still gave it a shot and ordered a Margherita pizza plus two Caesar salads (one plain and one with added grilled chicken for an extra $4).
• The Caesar salads were honestly the highlight—fresh romaine, good dressing, nice croutons, and the chicken portion on the upgraded one was decent for the price. Solid and tasty.
• Service was friendly and quick, which helped.
The pizza, though… big letdown. The “Margherita” was basically just a cheese pizza with a single leaf (supposedly basil?) on top. It didn’t have that classic Margherita flavor at all and left a weird, lingering aftertaste, like it was off or the ingredients weren’t fresh. Definitely strange and disappointing.
The salads and service are what bump this up to 2.5 stars instead of lower. The smell and especially the pizza drag it down a lot. For $4 extra on the chicken, the salad upgrade was worth it, but overall, we probably won’t be back unless things improve.

Chris was great waiter! All the food was delicious! The beer was great too! I’m not exaggerating, everything was on point.

The atmosphere is the best part for me, but, they toped it off with creative offerings of pizzas and unique brew of beverages which adds to the satisfying fill of a delicious meal. First time here and wow! The pizza and service is astonishing! The oven roasted pizza tastes like I’m in New York eating at the best Italian pizzeria! Stephanie was my waitress and she did amazing job helping me!! I will be back and telling all my friends!!
