Morning Story Marion is my safe space, and my daughters too. My favorite place to sit is at the bar because the people tending it and serving there are so sweet and kind. I love that we have a book themed breakfast restaurant in the area. I was even more surprised to learn that there are Morning Story’s in Colorado, the state where my daughter was born and I called home for 7 years.

The atmosphere is bright, warm, and comforting. The restaurant is always extremely clean. And the food is to DIE for.

My daughter’s favorite will always be their chocolate chip pancakes. I’m a variety breakfast lady so I have enjoyed their French Toast a lot (especially with their lemon curd and blueberry compote toppings), the French toast STICKS which are honestly even better than the French Toast. The biscuits and gravy are wonderful, breakfast scrambles, and I’m a sucker for just their over-easy eggs and some rye toast.

The only slightly critique I have is that their bacon flights are very pricey and not really worth how much they cost. I really feel it should be more than just 4 slices of different flavored bacons for the price it’s currently at. But I understand the aesthetic.

I’ve enjoyed the adult mimosa and iced coffee flights with friends and THOSE are to die for. I really just love exploring their menu and creating memories with my daughter here who is an avid reader like myself.

Also, if your kiddo does the book report on their menu, you can bring it back your next visit so they can get a FREE kids meal. That seriously gives me the same feeling as those Book-It rewards we used to get in school for Pizza Hut. But healthier!!

The managers are so warm, kind, and creative. Their team is a solid, well-oiled machine. I never see anyone stressed or unhappy here when working here. That is something you do not see often!!

We love you Morning Story Marion! And we will be back again and again and again!

Just last week my mom, sister and I went to Morning Story in Marion, IA. This has become a go to place, for me, when visiting my sister.

I try something new every time I go. This is hard to do since what I had last time was so good that I really just want to get it again. However, if I were stuck in that rut I would have missed out on so many amazing offerings they have.

Most recently I had their foot long burrito, no joke, it was a foot long and stuffed with goodness. I would absolutely get this again.

Back in December, I ordered the Chicken Waffles. I know what those are and they sounded really good. I was definitely not expecting the stacked amazement they brought to our table. I obviously had to deconstruct this monstrous, stacked, deliciousness. I was the envy of the table as my mom, sister and wife got the same old thing they always got. They got what they knew and felt comfortable with. I took the challenge and was not one bit disappointed.

I think Morning Story always goes above and beyond.
*Presentation? Stunning
*Taste? Amazing
*Waite staff? Always friendly, engaging, if you want to engage and not so much if you’re the silent type, knowledgeable of what they are serving. They are simply wonderful people and so many of them in one place. Wow!
Manager/Owner? Not sure which of these she is, maybe both. She is so delightful to interact with.

I know everything, heretofore has been so positive. You are likely wondering if maybe I’m the manager, I’m not and I do have a criticism of Morning Story. The waite staff wear these very cool shirts but the don’t sell them. They should absolutely sell the shirts they wear, not off their backs, just have some in stock so customers can buy and advertise for them.

Okay, final verdict. I would strongly encourage you to give them a go, I believe you will not be disappointed. Enjoy! Or just salivate looking at my pictures attached.

This establishment is an outstanding choice for breakfast. The decor, customer service, and cuisine collectively position it as a leading option in the area for breakfast or brunch. Our server, Nancy H, provided exceptional recommendations and her radiant smile brightened the entire room, offering truly excellent service. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, characterized by fresh ingredients, robust coffee, and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.

The atmosphere leans modern, which isn’t my personal preference—I tend to favor more rustic, traditional settings. That said, the staff was friendly and the service excellent. Some menu items felt a bit pricey, but the food itself was solid. I would consider returning.

Food is amazing! Get the bacon flight and you won’t be disappointed! 12-2 is happy hour so half off of their coffee bacon flights and cocktails! Our service was good but could use a little work (probably just new) but a great breakfast/lunch place!

Morning Story has a huge menu with plenty of options to customize your breakfast. There are a lot of non-egg options as well which is great if you have someone who is allergic or at easy way to make something vegetarian/vegan. The portions are large, but prices match. Not your run of the mill breakfast joint. Most plates are going to run you about $20/pp if you get a coffee or other beverage. I’m not a big fan of oversized menus usually but thought the variety here was good and liked the seasonal specials. I got the autumn breakfast hash and it was pretty good. I was a little bummed it wasn’t crispier. Potatoes were soft but there wasn’t that crispy bottom I was hoping for. Their waffles are amazing in their chicken and waffles but the actual chicken is over fried and kind of lack luster. Their pancake is a great, typical house buttermilk pancake style which is always a crowd pleaser. I think for the size of the menu and quality, it’s definitely good and worthy or going back for sure. I clearly liked it because I didn’t even take pictures before I dug in and ate everything!

Great atmosphere, great service, was seated right away. Staff was great. We had an overall great experience! Our server, Katie, was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly helpful. The latte she made me was to die for! She made excellent recommendations and was happy to answer all of our questions, which really enhanced our meal. The food was delicious and the service made it even better. We’ll definitely be back!

I was passing through the area on a Sunday morning and had reached out to my nephew and his mom to meet for breakfast. We chose to meet here because she had said the food was good and the atmosphere. I underestimated how good it was Initially we were told a 20 minute wait time (normal for a Sunday morning I am sure) but asked if we could sit at the bar, they said yes. So we sat immediately. The bartender/server was quick to get us coffee and waters. Checked back once and we had forgot to look at the menu, she was super nice about it, and left us alone for about 5 minutes. She then asked again, took our order, and we waited all of about 10 minutes for our orders to come out. The food was hot, presented well, and most importantly delicious. My nephew and his mother had pancakes and eggs, I had a Huevos Rancheros. They loved the pancakes and my food was so amazing, the chorizo they used was clearly from a butcher because it was sooo good, such good spice and flavor, and my eggs were cooked amazingly. I also had a side of grits and they were fantastic. All in all, I cannot recommend this place enough

We travel from out of town to visit my kids in Marion and this has become our go to spot for breakfast. Taste wise they knock it out of the park, and the service is spectacular. They work together like a well-oiled machine. In an area that has too many food options to consider, this is the only place you need to know about! Super nice staff!

Hands down some of the best breakfast I have ever had anywhere. Excellent mimosa fried chicken Benedict with ranch potatoes. Absolutely no complaints. Very affordable too. Would definitely recommend!
