Backstreet Bagel Company began as Backstreet Bagel & Deli in 1996 with a dream to bring genuine East Coast bagels to the mountains of Western Colorado. 25 years later we still take pride in our authentic New York style bagels and signature coffee drinks. We stubbornly believe bagels are meant to be made from scratch. And that they should be eaten the same day they are baked. So we get up before everyone to bake at least 15 flavors of bagels every single morning. We believe our bagels are the best in the world. Maybe it’s the water that melts straight off the San Juan peaks. Or the arid high desert climate that creates a perfect environment for aging the dough. Or maybe it’s just the love we put into our work at Backstreet.

We were passing through town but wanted something small to eat for breakfast and saw this place on the map. I’m not going to lie when I say I came here because of my favorite boy band (haha)…but the expansive menu and prices looked great, so we had to stop for sure! We got the bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwiches that come with a small coffee. The multigrain and the rosemary garlic bagels are crazy good! Fluffy, chewy, DELICIOUS! The sandwich hit the spot. Their coffee is very good too!! The service was great!

Solid bagel place – so good for the price! A bagel with schmear and coffee was only $6. Cute patio to sit outside with friends. The mocha and the vanilla latte were amazing. The nitro cold brew is so smooth! Highly recommend.

On a business trip and stopped in to try a bagel on my way to the airport. The super friendly woman at the counter recommended the green chili bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. It was phenomenal! Lots of great flavors. I’ll be back soon, great place.

On the left is a poppy seed bagel in name only, I purchased yesterday. On the right is a competitor’s poppy seed bagel. Hmmmm. Also, I agree with the recent reviewer about the older woman. She has terrible people skills. I politely asked her to check my order as three people after me had gotten their orders and mine was simple. Her response was, “No.”

A great little bagel shop. Of course they have a variety of bagels but they have plenty of other menu choices. The coffee is really great. The atmosphere is fun and open with plenty of seating. The staff is really friendly.

The older women working at backstreet bagel have a terrible attitude and passive aggressiveness problem. I thought it was just one of the older women working, but had another one take my order and it was the same deal. 2 of my friends who are also young girls have also expressed how unpleasant and bitter they were towards them , so I wouldn’t be shocked if it was a targeted thing. It sucks to write this review because all the younger workers have been lovely, but unfortunately the old bitter women have thrown me off completely. Please get better people to work the register.

We were driving through Montrose and needed a light lunch so we popped into Backstreet Bagel Co.
The bagels were fresh and the quality was excellent. The bagel with lox is a must have, if you’re a lox lover like me.
They also had truly excellent espresso. It was much better than most and comparable to what you’d find in a good European café. What a pleasant surprise that was!
The little private patio in the back was a perfect place to nosh in the shade. If I lived anywhere near Montrose, I’d be a regular.
