I had a fabulous time at Swen’s! My server, Chris gave me the most incredible recommendations for a fantastic meal from their new menu (I would highly recommend the scallop appetizer, they were wonderful!)
You couldn’t beat the atmosphere either, there are beautiful windows that look out on the ski slopes.

Swens 2026, under the helm of Executive Chef Sandal (formerly of Goldener Hirsch), is a standout. On a very snowy evening when the canyon closed, Chef Sandal took full command of both the kitchen and front of house, delivering a truly sensational dinner.
The arugula salad, seared salmon, and apple blossom dessert pictured below were absolutely delicious. I can’t recommend enough making the trip up to Alta to enjoy a delicious dining experience in such a spectacular setting at the beautiful Snowpine Lodge. Thank you to Chef and his wonderful staff for such a great evening!

Swens is one of my new favorite restaurants in the Wasatch Front. The service is excellent, the menu is creative and new, the vibe is elevated, and the food is wonderful. The new executive chef brings creativity to the menu outside of crowd pleasing staples. Everything was excellent, but the scallops as a starter are truly some of the best scallops I’ve ever had. Alyssa was our server and was knowledgeable about the menu, and provided great recommendations. I got the orecchiette pasta, it was delicious. Would definitely go again and would recommend to any local and out of town friends.

We joined our friends for dinner at Swen’s on Thursday and Friday.
The food was excellent both nights!
We were hesitant Friday night because our server on Thursday was a bit disorganized. I am assuming he is new because the timing of food/drink delivery was off and he was not attentive overall. We decided to give it a second go since the food was still good despite the main course being cool since we ate the appetizer first and both arrived at the same time. We figured we would just order in stages to avoid this. Thankfully Friday was a whole different story. Immediately we felt more at ease and even ordered everything at the beginning. Alyssa made sure everything was timed perfectly! We tried several of her suggestions and really enjoyed the sea bass and pork chop!
We will be back for the food, but only when Alyssa is there to serve it. She turned a borderline experience into an easy five stars from us!

We have come here every Valentine’s Day for three years! The food is great (limited vegetarian options but still good), the view is amazing, but the staff is the highlight! We are always greeted by every staff member there and they even remember us year over year which just goes to show how attentive and kind they all are. Alyssa has been our server two years in a row and she is fantastic! She gives great recommendations and helps me get a great vegetarian experience by recommending the best options and offering to mix and match items for me.

Swen’s at Snowpine Lodge was outstanding. The hotel itself is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, and the food and drinks completely exceeded our expectations. What made the night truly special was our server, Alfredo — an absolute gem. He turned a great meal into a perfect family experience. We’ll definitely be back.

My family and I live in Cottonwood and frequent establishments both in the city and on the mountain. We have visited Snowpine Lodge for multiple years now, and the ’25-’26 winter season thus far stands out in terms of quality and consistency, especially in regard to Swen’s: Snowpine Lodge’s flagship dining location. Most recently we were served by Alyssa. She elevated the experience in a way that seems to be increasingly rare in upscale dining as of recent times. Such a deliberate and plentiful wine list can be hard to select from, Alyssa confidently and thoughtfully suggested the St. Supery Cabernet Sauvignon which perfectly complemented our food choices. Additionally, our courses were both flawlessly timed and promptly delivered at peak quality. This priceless insight and expertise, in addition to the multi-visit friendly menu created by the new chef has left my family and I in eager anticipation of our next visit.

A group of 7 ate here the Monday before Christmas. There weren’t a lot of customers when we entered, and we were the last table to leave. There were definitely more employees than customers most of the night, which is why the experience was so strange. We ordered 3 octopus appetizers to start. The octopus itself was good and was warm. The octopus was accompanied by roasted potatoes. Some of the potatoes were warm, some were cold, and some were still frozen in the middle. FROZEN! How does that happen?!? The French onion soup came out after our entrees and was cold. You could tell it was hot at one time by the cheese melted on the side of the bowl. Apparently our waiter, Alfredo, forgot to bring it out. 4 of us had sea bass and the other 3 had duck. 1 of the sea bass was not warm and had to be sent back. The duck and the sea bass itself was good. We brought our own wine and were charged a total of $75 corkage which seemed high as there was no change of glasses and we opened/poured the wine ourselves. We had to hunt down our server a couple times. When we complained about the cold food, they brought out 2 salads – we didn’t want or need salads. They did waive the cost of the soup. Unless we see a significant upswing of positive reviews, we won’t be returning. Unfortunate, as we have had pretty good meals in years past.

Lovely views of the mountain and delicious brunch. Servings are appropriately sized. Servers were delightful. Beautiful, welcoming atmosphere. Even for fine dining, I didn’t feel out of place in yoga pants in the morning.

After a super fun day spring cross country skiing at Alta, we had a drink at the Snow Pine hotel at the bar the Gulch and then had an early dinner at Swen‘s. Loved the view, service and food was incredible! This is one of my new favorites. Everybody you gotta come up the canyon and get here! You won’t be disappointed.
We had the pork chop, mountain trout and roasted carrots as well as the winter kale salad. Unbelievable!
